Job Description
As a Technician, you will be responsible for operating refinery equipment and managing glycerin refinery plant operations through systems like Distributed Control Systems (DCS) to maintain production targets and efficiency. This role requires constant monitoring of process parameters, alarms, and equipment status, making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance. You will also be responsible for quality control by taking samples from designated points and ensuring timely delivery to the laboratory for quality testing. Handling chemicals safely and ensuring proper dosing while adhering to safety protocols is a critical part of this position. Additionally, you will perform preventive maintenance on field equipment and follow all plant safety procedures, especially when handling hazardous materials or working with high-temperature equipment.
Responsibilities
+ Operate refinery equipment and manage plant operations using DCS systems.
+ Monitor process parameters, alarms, and equipment status, making adjustments as necessary.
+ Conduct quality control by sampling and delivering samples to the laboratory for testing.
+ Handle chemicals safely, ensuring proper dosing and adherence to safety protocols.
+ Perform preventive maintenance on field equipment and report any issues.
+ Follow all plant safety procedures, particularly when handling hazardous materials or high-temperature equipment.

Work Environment
Work in a 12-hour rotating shift from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM in a climate-controlled environment. Be prepared to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including confined spaces with exposure to chemicals, pressurized steam, dust, heat, noise, and fumes. Join a team of roughly 10 production operators on all shifts. Dress code includes casual attire with steel-toed boots, a hard hat, safety glasses, and additional PPE. Uniforms are provided later on.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
