    Job Summary:

    The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for working collaboratively with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on financial matters for Greater Opportunities for Broome and Chenango, Inc. The Senior Staff Accountant will report and work closely with CFO, Senior Administration, and the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization. The Senior Staff Accountant will assist in the compliance and recognition for government (Federal and State) contracts and private grants. S/he must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace. Assist the CFO in organization's financial planning and accounting practices as well as its relationships with lending institutions, board members, and the financial community by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

    Education and Experience:

    Bachelor degree in accounting from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree in an accredited college or university and/or CPA preferred. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in non-profit and fund accounting preferred. Valid Driver's license

     

    **Supervisory Responsibilities** : Supervises Fiscal staff in the absence of the CFO

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    1. Assist the CFO in the daily treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, long range forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization.

    2. Works collaboratively with the CFO to assess the financial position and develop periodic reports on the organization's financial stability, liquidity, and growth.

    3. Assists the CFO in the coordination and establishment of budget programs.

    4. Assists in the preparation and issuance of the corporation's annual report.

    5. Assists the CFO in analyzing the general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization's policies and operations.

    6. Assists the CFO in analyzing operational issues impacting functional groups and the whole institution, and determines their financial impact.

    7. Establishes and maintains contacts with board members, financial institutions, and the investment community as needed and directed by the CFO.

    8. Assist the CFO in ensuring the proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions

    9. Assists the CFO in developing and utilizing forward looking predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans

    10. Assists the CFO in engaging the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors to develop short, medium, and long-term financial plans and projections

    11. Remains up-to-date on nonprofit audit and best practices as well as state and federal law regarding non-profit operations

    12. Ensures legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions
