    Director of Finance Planning & Analysis

    Job Description

    The Director of Finance Planning & Analysis will play a critical leadership role in driving financial strategy, performance management, and decision-making support across the organization. This individual will lead the FP&A function, partnering with executive leadership and operational teams to deliver insightful financial analysis, robust forecasting, and efficient budgeting processes. The ideal candidate has deep experience in financial modeling, business partnering, and performance tracking within the CRO, pharmaceutical, or Medtech industry.

    Responsibilities

    + Lead the FP&A function, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and management reporting.

    + Partner with the CFO and executive team to support strategic planning and business decision-making.

    + Serve as a key finance partner to the Project Management Office (PMO), Operations, Business Development, and Management teams.

    + Provide financial insights into service line profitability, resource utilization, and operational efficiency.

    + Lead the pricing review process in collaboration with all the stakeholders.

    + Develop and manage detailed annual operating plans, rolling forecasts, and multi-year financial models.

    + Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for service lines.

    + Produce timely and accurate management reports, KPIs, and variance analyses.

    + Analyze trends in revenue, costs, margins, and cash flow to identify opportunities and risks.

    + Partner with the IT team to automate some of the management reports and KPIs.

    + Enhance FP&A processes, tools, and systems to scale with company growth.

    + Leverage financial systems for automation and efficiency.

    + Manage and execute the annual budget process.

    + Conduct quarterly reforecasting and pricing updates twice a year.

    + Report to the board of directors.

    + Conduct profitability and other analysis on an ad hoc basis.

    + Maintain a strong relationship between PMO and finance, ensuring smooth communication and process improvement.

    + Communicate effectively with stakeholders to build relationships and break silos.

    Essential Skills

    + BS or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

    + 8-12 years of progressive FP&A experience, including 3-5 years in a leadership role.

    + Experience in the CRO industry.

    + Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

    + Experience with databases and sales software.

    + High energy level, sound business judgment, and strong analytical skills.

    + Proven ability to influence others and lead data-driven analyses.

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills with a track record of presenting to senior management.

    + Highly organized with multitasking skills and efficiency in ambiguous situations.

    + Experience working in a fast-paced environment.

    + Ability to solve problems and implement improvements.

    + Ability to work well in groups.

     

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment involves working as the only person in the FP&A department with a lot of dotted lines to the rest of the C-suite and other VPs. You will report directly to the CFO and need to be able to work with senior people effectively.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Permanent position based out of Raleigh, NC.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $168400.00 - $240790.00/yr.

     

    4.5 weeks of PTO10 paid holidays (8 standard, 2 floating)401k match up to 6%Profit-sharing and incentive program

    This is a hybrid position in Raleigh,NC.
