Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Remote Data Architect (PST hours preferred). In this role you will design and model data for student success reporting in Looker. This role involves working with Banner (Student Information System) and Canvas (Learning Management System) datasets to create a structure that supports campus-wide reporting and analytics. You will also assist in migrating existing reports from Cognos to Looker. You will understand what data exists in Banner and Canvas, Decide how to organize it for reporting in looker, and make sure old Cognos reports can be migrated to Looker.

- Student success initiatives: Reducing Grades of D, F or Withdraw, increasing retention, increasing 4 year graduation rates

Key Responsibilities:

-Analyze and understand data from Banner and Canvas systems.

-Design logical and physical data models optimized for reporting in Looker.

-Build Looker Explores that enable self-service reporting and/or pre-built dashboards.

-Identify data fields used in existing Cognos reports and ensure they are available in Looker.

-Collaborate with stakeholders to define KPIs and reporting requirements for student success initiatives.

-Ensure compliance with data governance and FERPA regulations.

Pay Rate: 50-65/hr

Skills and Requirements

- 5+ years experience as a Data Architect

- Strong experience in data modeling and data architecture.

- Familiarity with Banner and Canvas datasets (or similar higher education systems).

- Hands-on experience with Looker (LookML, Explores, dashboards).

- Understanding of reporting migration from legacy tools (e.g., Cognos).

- Knowledge of SQL and relational database design.

- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
