University Marketing & Communications has an exciting opening for a Senior Video Producer. This is a full-time, permanent position.
The Senior Video Producer leads the development and execution of high-quality, creative video content that advances the University of Washington’s brand and strategic priorities. Operating with a high degree of independence, this role manages complex video projects from concept through final delivery, ensuring alignment with UMAC’s goals and creative standards. The Senior Video Producer brings technical expertise, editorial judgment and creative vision, while also introducing emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), into the production process to enhance efficiency, innovation and storytelling impact.
What You Will Do:
Creative and Technical Production Leadership (45%)
+ Independently lead the end-to-end production of high-profile video projects, including institutional campaigns, documentary storytelling, donor engagement and promotional content.
+ Develop creative concepts and pitch ideas in collaboration with the Associate Director of Video Production and stakeholders.
+ Advise on art direction, cinematography, lighting, sound design and advanced editing to ensure visually compelling and brand-aligned content.
+ Apply deep technical expertise to elevate the quality and polish of UW video content across platforms.
+ Direct and manage freelance crews, talent and vendors, as needed.
+ Assist in the development of production guidelines, onboarding materials or internal toolkits for video storytelling.
+ Represent the video team in cross-functional meetings or creative brainstorms.
+ Provide backup coverage or temporary support to the video team during peak periods or absences.
Innovation and Technology Integration (20%)
+ Research, test and integrate emerging technologies into production workflows, including AI-assisted editing tools, machine-learning captioning, virtual production environments, and advanced post-production techniques.
+ Recommend new tools and processes to enhance storytelling, streamline workflows and improve accessibility.
+ Share findings and best practices with team members and actively contribute to a culture of innovation.
Collaboration and Mentorship (15%)
+ Collaborate closely with content strategists, designers, social media managers and leadership across UMAC.
+ Mentor junior producers and serve as a peer leader within the video team.
+ Provide project management leadership for the video team, review team projects and provide creative and technical feedback to ensure alignment with brand and storytelling standards.
+ Participate in departmental initiatives and special projects that support the broader goals of UMAC and the University.
Asset Management and Compliance (10%)
+ Maintain organized, accessible video asset libraries.
+ Ensure all content complies with ADA standards, brand guidelines and legal/licensing requirements.
+ Support equipment management, including testing and recommending upgrades.
Other duties as assigned (10%)
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of professional video production experience.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
What You Bring:
+ Expertise in camera operation, lighting, audio capture, and post-production.
+ Familiarity with AI tools in video production, color grading, or content repurposing.
+ Drone and/or livestream production experience.
+ Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Audition, etc.).
+ Demonstrated experience leading large-scale or high-visibility video projects.
+ Ability to adopt and introduce new technologies into creative workflows.
+ Excellent communication, collaboration, and creative problem-solving skills.
+ Commitment to inclusive storytelling.
+ Experience in TV, commercial, documentary or educational media production preferred.

What You Can Expect:

+ Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary, on short or limited notice.
+ Frequent local travel is expected.
+ Ability to support event setup and tear down, including lifting 20 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds on occasion.

Pay Range Minimum:
$78,600.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$83,436.00 annual
