Job Summary
The Merchandising Finance Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Merchandising organization and product strategy execution. This role is responsible for delivering actionable financial insights that drive sales growth, margin improvement, and operational efficiency. The incumbent will leverage product category analytical dashboards, transactional data, and cross-functional collaboration to streamline reporting and support Merchandising teams.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Support
+ Partner with Merchandising leadership to analyze performance across product categories (volume, sales, gross profit, GP/unit).
+ Identify growth opportunities and margin improvement areas through data-driven insights.
+ Serve as a strategic business partner with deep understanding of category drivers (COGS, GP, volume, etc.).
Reporting & Analytics
+ Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to communicate key metrics and trends.
+ Perform complex data analysis across large datasets to uncover profitability leakage by customer type and product category.
+ Quantify financial impact of key initiatives and ensure accurate reflection in forecasts and plans.
Planning & Forecasting
+ Lead the Merchandising Annual Operating Plan (AOP), budgeting, and monthly/quarterly business reviews.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional finance teams to ensure alignment on forecasts and business drivers.
+ Support corporate FP&A initiatives and reporting requirements.
Decision Support & Ad-Hoc Analysis
+ Provide financial decision support through ad-hoc analysis and scenario modeling.
+ Recommend actions to improve profitability and efficiency.
+ Ensure trends and initiatives are accurately represented in forecasts and plans.
Leadership & Development
+ Mentor and develop finance analysts, including recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.
+ Champion the use of Sysco’s analytical tools and serve as the business partner to the Merchandising organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
+ Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or economics required (MBA/CPA and preferred).
Experience
+ At least 7+ years of financial analyst and/or accounting experience required.
Professional Skills
+ Organizational and time management.
+ Critical thinking skills.
+ Strong computer skills and knowledge of financial reporting software.

+ Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal skills.
+ Broad knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
+ Play a key role in the annual operating plan (AOP) process.

+ Participate in the recruiting and training of finance associates.
+ Responsible for performance management and development of finance associates.
