    Leave of Absence Manager

     

    The Leave of Absence Manager is responsible for overseeing the administration and strategic management of all employee leave programs, including FMLA, short-term and long-term disability, parental leave, military leave, and other statutory or company-sponsored leaves. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while delivering a seamless and empathetic employee experience.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage end-to-end leave processes, including intake, eligibility determination, documentation, tracking, and return-to-work coordination

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, managers, and HR partners regarding leave policies and procedures

    • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely communication throughout the leave lifecycle

    • Ensure adherence to FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, state-specific leave laws, and internal policies

    • Partner with legal and compliance teams to mitigate risk and respond to audits or inquiries

    • Stay current on legislative changes and update policies accordingly

    • Manage relationships with third-party leave administrators and insurance carriers

    • Oversee leave management systems and ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy

    • Collaborate with HRIS and payroll teams to ensure proper coding and pay continuity

    • Provide empathetic support and guidance to employees navigating complex leave situations

    • Develop and deliver training and resources for managers and HRBP’s

    • Champion a culture of care and inclusion through thoughtful leave practices

    • Analyze leave trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement

    • Recommend enhancements to leave policies and programs to support workforce needs

    • Support integration of leave programs during mergers, acquisitions, or organizational changes

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field

    • 5+ years of experience managing leave programs in a large, complex organization

    • Strong knowledge of federal and state leave laws and compliance requirements

    • Experience with leave management systems and third-party administrators

    • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
