    Job Description

    We are seeking a reliable and versatile Maintenance Helper to support day-to-day operations across a university campus. This role requires a hands-on professional who can independently troubleshoot and resolve a variety of maintenance issues. The ideal candidate is a jack-of-all-trades with a strong work ethic and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Basic Plumbing:

    • Snake drains, clear clogs, and perform minor pipe repairs.

    • Basic Electrical:

    • Replace light bulbs, perform lockout/tagout procedures, and assist with minor electrical fixes.

    • General Maintenance:

    • Patch and repair drywall, prep and paint surfaces, and perform touch-ups as needed.

    • Assist with furniture assembly, minor carpentry, and general upkeep.

    • Campus Support:

    • Respond to maintenance requests from faculty, staff, and students.

    • Ensure work areas are clean, safe, and compliant with campus standards.

    • Problem Solving:

    • Independently assess issues and determine appropriate solutions.

     

    Communicate effectively with supervisors and campus personnel.

    Skills and Requirements

    • Proven experience as a handyman or in general maintenance (residential or commercial).

    • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, and drywall repair.

    • Familiarity with safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures.

    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

     

    Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (MVR check required). • Certifications in electrical, plumbing, or general maintenance.

     

    • Experience in a campus or institutional setting.

     

    Basic carpentry skills and furniture assembly experience.
