Summary
Performs various operations to enhance product value within a manufacturing setting. Responsibilities include operating machinery, executing value-added processes to ensure operational efficiency. Collaborates with team members to optimize workflows and uphold rigorous safety and quality standards. Recycling Material Processors hold experience in manufacturing processes, computer proficiency, and a meticulous approach to detail. Utilizes computerized work management systems and other software tools. Works with planners and buyers to ensure material availability and may be responsible for procuring and expediting material. Responsible for conducting operations consistent with SRP Safety standards, state and federal requirements. Any one position may not include all duties, nor do the example of duties include all tasks, which may be found in the position of this class.
What You'll Do
+ Operate and monitor specialized industrial machinery for value-adding tasks.
+ Enhance product value through specialized stripping, separating, or assembling processes.
+ Track inventory and manage line hardware parts, tools, and consumables used in refurbishment.
+ Collaborate with coworkers to streamline workflows and address bottlenecks.
+ Use software management systems for planning, assigning, tracking, and reporting of work activities.
+ Interfaces with supply chain partners and procurement to meet the customers’ material reservations and specific needs.
+ May initiate purchase requests including open order requisitions or emergency pickup orders for special items as needed.
+ Maintain compliance with all safety protocols.
+ Identify and separate ferrous and non-ferrous metals by value and direct to appropriate bins.
+ Identify and process hazardous materials and waste according to procedures that adhere to the state and federal standards.
+ Ensure inspection of Hazardous Waste and Universal Waste storage areas.
+ Determine whether material is salvageable for refurbishment or scrap.
+ Operate special equipment (forklifts, scales, front end loaders, skid steers, etc.).
+ Disassemble/assemble/refurbish components such as switches, enclosures, transmission hardware, line hardware, and apparatus material, etc.
+ Other duties as assigned.
What It Takes To Succeed

+ Strong technical problem-solving and mechanical aptitude
+ Subject to out-of-town work, callouts, and shift changes
+ High school diploma required; previous related work experience preferred; technical training preferred (Machine Operator, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Tech, Utility Background, etc.)
+ Ability to calculate cable conversions (lbs. to feet).
+ Equipment certifications for forklift (<15k lbs. and >15k lbs.), skid steer, Kubota front-end loader, and others as applicable.
+ Preferred training in hazardous waste handling.
Experience
Progression to a Recycling Material Processor Level 2 requires certified in operating articulated loaders, skid-steer loaders, tractors with attachments, utility work machines. Proficiency operating hand coil, payout, take-up, including grinders, pneumatic impact tools, various saws and drill press. A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Level 1 Recycling Material Processor.
Progression to a Recycling Material Processor Level 3 requires proficiency operating wire processing machinery, such as choppers, separators, shredders and shears. Other proficiencies include operating blast, crusher, and tumbler machinery. A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Level 2 Recycling Material Processor.
Education
High School, GED or Equivalent.
