What You Will Contribute:
Are you a high school junior looking to start your career in manufacturing?
Are you interested in pursuing skilled trades after high school and want to learn real-world skills for your future?
Badger Meter is hiring an Assembly Youth Apprentice. This will be a 2-year Apprenticeship program to develop a junior in high school into a future manufacturing career. This apprenticeship will be part time during the school year (at least 10 hours a week) and full-time during the summer.
The Assembly Youth Apprentice will learn how to assemble parts according to specified work instructions and/or drawings. This intern will be given the opportunity to rotate throughout the facility in a variety of assembly tasks. The Assembler intern will experience challenging opportunities, hands-on technical projects, interaction with staff, and the operations of a manufacturing organization.
Essential Job Duties:
+ Participate in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost continuous improvement efforts
+ Use Production system to record order activity, view work instructions and report completed work
+ Learn to use basic tools to complete assemblies, and printing programs to complete customer orders
+ Use detailed instructions with drawings to complete assemblies and finished products
+ Learn to operate arbor presses or riveting machines to perform fastening operations on assembly line
+ Record test results on standardized forms and writes test reports describing procedures used
+ Test products to verify that they meet specifications
+ Record scraps transactions due to assembly problems
+ Additional projects, tasks, and/or assignments as assigned
Qualifications:
+ Currently a Junior pursuing a High School diploma (graduating spring 2027)
+ Intermediate in computer/technical skills in Microsoft products
+ Preferred enrollment or completion or high school shop classes
Working Conditions:
+ Depending on the assigned department, must complete an audiogram test
