    Job Summary:

    Caterpillar Defense is seeking a **Business Development Manager – Ground Vehicles.** In this role, you lead Caterpillar Defense’s Growth Strategy development, prioritization, and communication efforts, within the Department of War (DOW) and with traditional ground vehicle prime contractors. This individual will establish a strategic plan to bridge the gap from traditional, organic growth with current accounts as identified in the annual business plan and driving a structured growth plan to grow defense sales within the Department of War through major programs of record.

    What You Will Do:

    + Leads Caterpillar Defense's Growth Strategy development, prioritization, and communication efforts with the Department of War and with traditional ground vehicle prime contractors.

    + Engage ground vehicle life cycle management organizations and to grow Caterpillar’s footprint in the sustainment and services markets.

    + Ensure Caterpillar Defense projects are integrated with other enterprise business activities and projects.

    + Supports capture efforts through proposal section writing and color teams.

    What You Will Have:

    **Customer Focus** : Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.

    + Creatively approach the DOW market with technical solutions from the Caterpillar product portfolio which add value or capability to new or existing platforms in the ground vehicle space.

    + Understand government and customer requirements and long term strategies to align them with commercial Caterpillar Defense hardware and services.

    **Effective Communications:** Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

    + Articulate value proposition and strategic fit for emerging vehicle platform opportunities to internal Caterpillar Defense stakeholders.

    + Translation business unit goals and objectives into an actionable plan.

    **Relationship Management:** Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

    + Represent Caterpillar Defense through vehicle-related trade organizations and OTA consortiums.

    + Serve as the initial point of contact and resource for government combat and tactical vehicle platform entities.

    **Strategic Thinking:** Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.

    + Monitor and interpret government budget documents, industry trade material, government bid communications platforms (e.g. SAM.gov), and trade shows to inform Caterpillar Defense’s strategic direction.

    + Establishes strategic plans to bridge the gap between organic growth with current accounts to growth in defense sales through major DoW programs of record.

    **Value Selling:** Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.

    + Creatively approaches the DOW market with technical solutions from the Caterpillar product portfolio that add capability to both new and existing platforms in the ground vehicle space. Engage with government program offices and platform OEMs to lodge Caterpillar offerings into developmental efforts.

    + Engage government requirements organizations and OEM internal research and development units to lodge Caterpillar offerings into developmental efforts.

    Additional Information:

    • This position is located in Dallas, TX and requires a 5-day-a-week in office presence

    • Domestic travel up to 50% travel is required

    • Domestic relocation assistance is not offered for this position

    Summary Pay Range:

    $144,960.00 - $217,320.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
