Job Summary
The Director of Analytics Architecture and Solutions is responsible for enabling the development and use of advanced data analytics at PSEG, by providing the required analytics infrastructure and tools and delivering analytics projects on this platform. The Director is responsible for shaping PSEG's analytics architecture strategy, working with Enterprise Architecture, and enriching PSEG's data and analytics platform. The Director will oversee the planning and execution of all data analytics platform and project activities, including coordinating and directing the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of data advanced analytics solutions and projects. The Director will motivate a team of data scientists, analysts, engineers, project managers and external partners focusing on the delivery of reporting and analytics to support data-driven decision and to enable PSEG’s workforce to leverage data and analytics. The Director will also inform critical data governance issues and partner with business and IT leads to ensure data is accessible in the right format and fit for purpose.
Job Responsibilities
+ Engage with internal functional and business leaders to understand their data analytics needs and establish solutions and project roadmaps.
+ Track emerging trends and technology maturity for solutions related to data management, reporting and advanced analytics (including AI), and identify opportunities to improve PSEG’s capabilities in these domains of activity. Work with Enterprise Architecture to define the reference analytics architecture. Evaluate and select analytics technologies. Coordinate technology roadmaps, long-range plans and individual project plans related to those domains to ensure appropriate consistency across business units and projects.
+ Oversee the planning and execution of all data architecture and solutions activities and analytics-related IT projects, including coordinating and directing the design, development, implementation, and long-term maintenance of these data analytics projects and solutions. Manage all phases of information technology projects in both waterfall and agile environments, including design, estimating, capital determination, business case justification, cost-benefit analysis, stakeholder approval, resourcing, implementation, and long-term support. Scope out, procure, and manage technology vendor contracts.
+ Inform critical data governance issues and partner with business and IT leads to ensure data, analytics, and reports are: (1) easily discoverable (e.g. catalogs); (2) accessible in the right format and fit for purpose; and (3) protected from unauthorized access.
+ Develop and review budgets and ensure they comply with stated goals, guidelines and objectives
+ Develop and maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Operating Level Agreements (OLAs)
+ Manage staffing including recruitment supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation and disciplinary actions
+ Provide reports, analysis and communication to senior and executive leadership
+ Department of Energy’s regulation 10 CFR 810 is required
Job Specific Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree, preferably in Data Science, Analytics, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent
+ 10+ years of relevant industry experience
+ Passion for analytics and for staying critically abreast of developments in tools and technologies that can yield greater analytics insights and efficiency
+ Experienced in working with business partners to understand and clarify analytics requirements, with an ability provide innovative solutions for current and future needs
+ Ability to manage all phases of information technology projects in both waterfall and agile environments, including design, estimating, capital determination, stakeholder approval, resourcing, implementation, and long-term production support
+ Ability to scope, procure, negotiate, and manage vendor contracts for analytics technology and project implementation
+ Ability to manage technology programs and budgets in large corporate environments
+ Ability to work effectively across functional levels and disciplines
+ Strong presentation and communication skills
Desired:
+ 3-5+ years of experience in Utility Analytics and Management Information Systems
+ Experience with applications related to data lakes, data warehouses, and analytics (e.g. AWS S3, Athena, Glue, Data Zone Formation, Redshift, SageMaker, etc.)
+ Experience with business intelligence and data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, QuickSight, Qlik)
+ Experience with data integration, cataloguing and management platforms (e.g. MuleSoft, JAMS, Informatica, Alation, Collibra, Denodo)
+ Experience with database management and query languages
+ Experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Office 365 / Power Suite
+ Knowledge of emerging trends in data analytics, data science, and predictive modeling, including artificial intelligence and machine learning
+ Experience implementing data management governance processes and underlying systems
+ Experience with utility industry
