The Operation Research - Optimization team
at Delta is seeking an operations research intern to help build or enhance state-of-the-art decision support tools applying leading edge optimization techniques and latest
technology.
An appropriate candidate will have
technical knowledge of operations research models and strong computer science skills. Strong
candidates will be self-motivated and exhibit excellent critical thinking
skills, the ability to synthesize complex problems and create solutions that
add value to a myriad of business needs. Ideal candidates have more than just
knowledge or skill set, as they also have a “can do" mindset to find
solutions.
Primary
Functions:
·
Performing data analysis and preparing
data for models and algorithms
·
Provide quantitative expertise in the form of models, consulting,
and software development
+ Design,develop, implement, and calibrate optimization products
• Formally
report results in a concise and understandable way
+ Practicesafety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and well-being
_Thisis a graduate-level role. Applicants must have already completed anundergraduate degree and be currently enrolled in or actively pursuing agraduate-level program such as a Master's, MBA, or PhD._
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
+ Minimumof three years of Ph.D. coursework completed
+ CompletedUndergraduate BA/BS in Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, IndustrialEngineering, Computer Science, or related field
+ Provensuccess in solving complex quantitative problems
+ Robustknowledge of optimization techniques
+ Solidprogramming skills (Python, C++, etc.)
+ Experiencewith commercial optimization solvers (Gurobi, Cplex, Xpress, etc.)
+ Strongwritten, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
+ _Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data._
+ _Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles._
+ _Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency._
+ _Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States._
