    Description

    Waterford Public Schools has an immediate vacancy for a team-oriented individual. Waterford Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Track Coach at Clark Lane Middle School.

     

    Waterford Public Schools serves approximately 2,400 students in grades PK-12.     The duties of an Assistant Coach generally fall into the following key areas:

    1. Coaching and Athlete Development

    + Skill Instruction: Assist the Head Coach in teaching the fundamental skills, techniques, and strategies for various track and field events (running, jumping, and throwing).

    + Practice Planning: Help develop and implement daily practice plans, warm-ups, and conditioning programs.

    + Supervision: Provide direct supervision of student-athletes during practices, meets, and team travel (including in locker rooms and on the bus) to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.

    2. Game/Meet Day Support

    + Competition Management: Assist with organizing and running track meets, including managing event areas, timing, and recording results.

    + Safety & First Aid: Be prepared to help ensure all safety measures are followed and assist in preventing injuries, often requiring current first aid/CPR certification.

    3. Administrative and Program Support

    + Program Compliance: Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic policies, rules, and regulations (e.g., eligibility requirements, codes of conduct).

    + Equipment: Assist with the inventory, issuance, maintenance, cleaning, and storage of all team equipment and uniforms.

    + Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, other school staff, parents, and students.

    + Role Model: Consistently serve as an appropriate role model, demonstrating high standards of professional ethics and conduct.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

    + CT Coaching Certification required

    + Must possess or be willing to obtainFirst Aid, CPR, and AED certification.

     

    Knowledge & Experience

     

    + Strong knowledgeof the sport of track and field, including event rules, strategies, and techniques.

    + Previous experienceas a coach or participant in track (middle school, high school, or college level) is highly preferred.
