    Job Title: Federal Work Study Student |** **Event Assistant** **– Office of Student Life

    **Hours: 5-10 hours/week** During the academic term, students may only work up to **19 hours** per week. Occasional evening or event attendance may be required

    Summary:

    The UTMB Office of Student Life is seeking enthusiastic and dependable Federal Work Study students to join our team as **Student Event Assistants** . This part-time, student-centered role supports the planning, promotion, setup, and execution of events hosted and supported by Student Life.

     

    We’re looking for students who are energetic, approachable, and excited to help create welcoming and engaging experiences for the UTMB student community. If you enjoy working with others, being hands-on, and contributing to a positive campus atmosphere, we’d love to have you on our team!

    Reporting Structure:

    This position reports directly to the Director of Student Life. Student Event Assistants will work closely with Student Life Program Specialists/Staff to support the planning and execution of campus events. Responsibilities may include event setup and breakdown, assisting with logistics, welcoming attendees, promoting events to peers, and helping ensure events run smoothly and successfully.

    Essential Functions:

    • **Event Setup and Breakdown:** Assist with the physical setup and takedown of tables, chairs, signage, and other event equipment according to event plans.

    • **University Representation:** Serve as a positive ambassador for UTMB, demonstrating school pride and professionalism during all Student Life events.

    • **Team Collaboration:** Work effectively with Student Life staff and fellow student employees, attend required trainings, and maintain clear, respectful communication.

    • **Event Promotion:** Help promote upcoming Student Life events by sharing information with peers, encouraging attendance, and contributing to a welcoming and inclusive campus environment.

    • **Support Event Execution:** Help ensure events run smoothly by assisting with logistics, welcoming attendees, and responding to on-site needs as directed.

    Required Education and Experience:

    + Must have a Federal Work Study Award and be enrolled in a UTMB degree program

    + Excellent organizational and communication skills

    + Strong initiative, attention to detail, and time management

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Well-connected across campus with awareness of student events and trends

    + Experience working independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines

    **Federal Work-Study Eligibility:** Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study as determined by the financial aid office.

    Salary Range:

    Actual salary commensurate with experience.
