    TYLin is seeking a Senior Track Design Engineer to lead the planning and design of major rail and transit projects across Southern California and throughout the United States. This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished engineer with deep technical expertise in trackwork design and a passion for delivering infrastructure that connects communities and transforms mobility.

     

    The Opportunity

     

    As a Senior Track Design Engineer, you will take the lead on complex, high-profile track design projects—serving as both a technical authority and project manager. You’ll direct multidisciplinary teams of engineers and designers, oversee project delivery from concept through construction, and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.

     

    In this role, you’ll operate as the Track Engineer of Record on projects leading delivery production , QA/QC reviews, and coordinating with clients and agency stakeholders to deliver designs that meet technical, operational, and budgetary goals. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring junior engineers, shaping TYLin’s technical excellence, and contributing to business development and pursuit efforts.

     

    Responsibilities & Qualifications

    What You’ll Do:

    + Lead and manage **track design** for commuter rail, light rail, subway, and freight systems across multiple projects and geographies.

    + Serve as **Engineer of Record (EOR)** , stamping drawings and ensuring design integrity, accuracy, and compliance with all standards.

    + Oversee project delivery as **Project Manager** , including budgets, schedules, and client coordination.

    + Direct and mentor a team of engineers, designers, and CAD specialists to produce high-quality, coordinated design packages.

    + Lead **QA/QC** processes for all trackwork deliverables, maintaining TYLin’s standards of design excellence.

    + Perform and review **alignment geometry** , crossovers, turnouts, yards, and related civil components.

    + Collaborate with structural, civil, systems, and construction disciplines to deliver fully integrated designs.

    + Build and maintain strong client relationships; support business development and proposal pursuits.

    What You’ll Bring:

    + Bachelor’s degree in **Civil Engineering** (Master’s preferred).

    + **Professional Engineer (PE) license** required (California PE preferred, or ability to obtain).

    + Significant, demonstrated **experience** in **rail and transit trackwork design.**

    + Experience managing design teams would be a significant advantage.

    + Proven success leading major design packages from concept through construction.

    + In-depth knowledge of **track geometry, special trackwork, rail operations, rail maintenance, and construction practices** .

    + Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills.

    Additional Information

     

    TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $140,000 - $210,000 annually for this position and local market. We recognize that each candidate brings a unique set of skills, experience, education and competencies to the table that will be reflected in our offer. TYLin is proud to offer exciting career development opportunities.
