About the Role:
The Clean Utilities Technician-Flex Shift is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of clean utility systems that support pharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratory environments. This includes systems such as purified water (WFI), clean steam, compressed gases, and HVAC components. The technician ensures all work complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety protocols, and site-specific procedures. This position is for coverage with an emphasis on making sure that we have enough personnel on shift during PTO, Parental Leave and similar situations.
The standard shift is M-F 6:45AM-3:30PM.
The coverage shift when required is 6:45AM-7PM, or 06:45PM-7AM.
What You'll Do
+ Operate and maintain clean utility systems: WFI, RO/EDI/CDI, clean steam, compressed air, and HVAC
+ Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs
+ Monitor system performance and respond to alarms or deviations
+ Use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to execute and document work orders
+ Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and follow all safety protocols
+ Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams to support production needs
+ Maintain accurate records of system parameters, maintenance activities, and compliance documentation
+ Support validation and commissioning activities for new or modified systems
+ Participate in emergency response and team-based troubleshooting efforts
+ Perform all other assigned duties as required
What You'll Need
+ High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred
+ 2+ years of experience in clean utilities, mechanical systems, or industrial maintenance
+ Familiarity with GMP, SOPs, and safety standards in regulated environments
+ Experience with pumps, plumbing, filtration systems (carbon, RO, EDI, CDI), and instrumentation
+ Understanding of wet chemistry principles: pH, conductivity, TOC, chlorine, hardness
+ Comfortable using PPE and working in confined spaces or elevated areas
+ Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to work with diverse personalities and rank structures
+ Ability to adapt to changing procedures and standards
+ Basic computer literacy and experience with paperless work systems
+ Prior work in pharmaceutical, biotech, or cleanroom environments
+ Hands-on experience with CMMS platforms (e.g., Maximo, SAP, Blue Mountain)
+ Electrical troubleshooting and basic instrumentation knowledge
+ Familiarity with fall protection, lifting devices, and other safety equipment
