Job Summary and Qualifications
Position Summary
The Domain Architect provides technical leadership across all facets of system and application design and implementation within clinical, supply chain, and revenue cycle domains. This role performs technical feasibility, process oversight, and impact analysis across these domains, considering workflows, data integration, and regulatory compliance in areas such as patient care, inventory management, billing, and claims processing. Based on this analysis, the architect will make recommendations for infrastructure and software solutions and platforms that support efficient operations and optimal revenue capture.
The candidate will provide leadership and technical mentorship to foster a collaborative and effective working relationship between business stakeholders, analysts, developers, and other teams across the organization. This includes facilitating communication and alignment between domain-specific teams. Excellent communication, proposal, and presentation skills are required to inform senior management and development staff of status and direction.
This position is within an innovation team that operates on multiple initiatives across the enterprise. The candidate must be comfortable moving between different technical ecosystems from project to project, requiring discovery and adaptation to systems, teams, and business stakeholders across various clinical, supply chain, and revenue cycle areas. A broad understanding of healthcare operations and related technologies is essential.
Major Responsibilities:
• Promote a collaborative team environment, actively working with operations, clinical, supply chain, and revenue cycle domain stakeholders, including business representatives, analysts, and IT teams, to achieve shared business objectives and ensure alignment with domain-specific needs and regulations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across domains (business stakeholders, product owners, project managers, end users) to deeply understand functional and non-functional requirements specific to each domain, translating them into actionable architectural blueprints.
• Develop and maintain the target-state architecture and architecture roadmap for the assigned domain including regular updates of the roadmap to align with business governance objectives.
• Lead investigations and propose solutions to complex development and design problems within the assigned domain. This includes evaluating existing architectures, identifying gaps, and recommending enhancements or entirely new solutions tailored to each domain's unique challenges.
• Guide team members in estimating and forecasting work within the assigned domain projects. Ensure that estimations account for domain-specific complexities, dependencies, and regulatory considerations.
• Collaborate with security architects to embed cybersecurity and data protection principles into design and operations.
• Perform proof-of-concept (POC) or proof-of-technology (POT) exercises, utilizing real-world clinical, supply chain, or revenue cycle scenarios, to validate proposed architectures and secure buy-in from stakeholders within each domain.
• Prepare and present designs, feasibility studies, and impact analyses of proposed solutions to diverse audiences, ranging from senior management to domain-specific analysts and developers, tailoring communication to the specific needs and understanding of each group. This includes clearly articulating the impact of architectural decisions on a solutions performance.
• Produce thorough architectural and design documentation necessary to guide development teams in building and implementing solutions across the assigned cycle domains.
• Communicate architectural decisions and trade-offs effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement.”
• Training and mentoring of peers and other staff
• Performs other duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree Computer Science or related field required
• 10+ years of experience a Software development or engineering roles required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Behaviors:
• Growth mindset and a willingness to learn new skills, technologies, and frameworks required
• Full-stack development experience working with various languages, platforms, databases, warehouse technologies, cloud technologies, analytics tools, AI/ML, etc. required
• Experience interfacing with or working within CRM, ERP, eCommerce, or EMR/EHR solutions and common integration patterns preferred
• Experience with DevOps tooling (e.g. GitHub, Azure DevOps) required
• Experience with diagramming tools (e.g. Visio, Lucid, Figma) required
• Strong Experience in cloud native, deploying within cloud environments, serverless development and/or container-based solutions required
• Strong understanding of best practices in the design of REST-based APIs required
• Strong Understanding of agile methodology and software development lifecycles required
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing required
• Ability to lead community events with a focus on software development or delivery required
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills required
• Troubleshooting skills including experience working with utilities for log analysis and load testing required
• Ability to work independently and lead a team to specific outcomes required
• Strong ability to understand context for code, the codebase, and its relation to business objectives required
• Understanding of IT contracting and purchasing practices preferred
• Ability to lead technical interviews of potential candidates of varying levels preferred
• Ability to sit for long periods of time required
