    Verdantas is seeking a **Soil Lab Technician** for our **San Diego, CA** location.

     

    You would play a vital role in supporting geotechnical and environmental projects by ensuring accurate soil sampling, testing, and documentation. This position combines hands-on fieldwork with detailed laboratory analysis, requiring a commitment to precision, safety, and quality standards. You’ll work closely with project managers and team members to deliver reliable data that informs critical engineering decisions, while maintaining equipment and adhering to established protocols.     What You'll Do:

    + Collect soil samples from various field sites using appropriate sampling techniques

    + Conduct field tests such as soil density, moisture content, and compaction

    + Perform laboratory tests, including grain size analysis, Atterberg limits, and soil classification

    + Record and analyze test data, ensuring accuracy and precision

    + Prepare detailed reports and documentation of test results

    + Maintain and calibrate field and laboratory equipment

    + Ensure compliance with safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

    + Assist in the preparation of project proposals and technical reports

    + Communicate findings and observations to the Project Manager/Supervisor

    + Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs

    What You’ll Bring:

    + High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in geology, civil engineering, or related field is a plus

    + 0–2 years in construction, geotechnical, or environmental fieldwork; prior exposure to soil testing or materials inspection is desirable

    + ACI Concrete Certification

    + Familiarity with soil and concrete testing methods

    + Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications

    + Proficiency with MS Word and Excel; comfortable using tablets or digital reporting tools

    + Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions and lifting equipment as needed

    + Knowledge of health and safety protocols and ability to follow established procedures

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with contractors, surveyors, and project managers

    + Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

    + Flexibility to travel to project sites and adapt to changing schedules

    + Ability to pass drug screening and background check

    Salary Range:

    23.00 - 25.00
