Job Title: Quality Assurance TechnicianJob Description
A Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for supporting the Quality Assurance Department by conducting quality audits, swabbing, coli form plating, calibrating, antibiotic testing, and various laboratory functions. The role involves enforcing USDA, SQF / QA, GMP, HACCP, and Safety policies, ensuring food safety and quality. In the absence of a Quality Assurance Technician, these responsibilities will be covered by another Technician or the Quality Assurance Manager.
Responsibilities
+ Perform weekly tasks including environmental swabbing, airplates, and thermometer calibration.
+ Conduct noon and midnight inventory of fluid silos.
+ Monitor waste water, pH, EC, and COD.
+ Perform micro plating, WPN, antibiotic confirmation testing, and TA testing.
+ Send daily samples to DA and Sierra for testing.
+ Pull and re-test customer samples.
+ Maintain clean lab areas and ensure all paperwork is completed accurately.
+ File documentation correctly and promptly.
+ Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
+ Care for and maintain company tools and laboratory equipment.
+ Update quality and procedure manuals, calibrations, waste water reports, and conduct swabbing and air quality monitoring.
+ Follow all safety and working rules while maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
+ Maintain a positive attitude and contribute towards a quality environment.
+ Demonstrate excellent full-time attendance to support company objectives.
+ Use initiative and judgment in decision-making, following other duties as assigned by management.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in Dairy Science, Food Science, or Microbiology, or an Associate's degree in similar areas with 5 years of laboratory experience.
+ Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
+ Basic computational skills and simple math reasoning.
+ Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Must acquire and maintain an Oven Solids Tester license.
+ Certified Industry Supervisor certification on Drug residue testing.
+ Must work in a safe and efficient manner and follow all safety procedures including the use of safety equipment.
Work Environment
The work environment may expose the employee to temperatures ranging from 34 to over 100 degrees and chemicals such as ammonia, acids, caustics, chlorines, paints, particles, oils, and hazardous gases. Personal protective equipment including hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, gloves, and eye protection must be used. Proper lifting techniques are required. The position requires flexibility to work all three shifts, with a typical shift being from 8pm to 4:30am.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pixley, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
