    Job Title: Electrical Engineer

     

    

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer for the Spent Fuel Handling Project at the Naval Reactors Facility at Idaho National Lab. The role involves performing various electrical engineering design functions as part of onsite construction support for Title 3 activities. The engineer will handle tasks such as dispositioning NCRs, assessing existing designs, responding to RFIs, and issuing Design Change Notices (DCNs). This position requires a PE license in Idaho or the ability to obtain one within six months. Coordination with quality inspections and supporting the development of scopes of work for electrical subcontracts with procurement and construction groups are also key components of this role.

    Responsibilities

    + Survey and assess existing facilities and participate in master planning.

    + Scope and estimate the level of engineering effort required.

    + Conduct fieldwork to assess existing conditions.

    + Write reports and conceptual design documents.

    + Review design development of drawings, specifications, and calculation analyses.

    + Assist with cost estimating and services during bidding and construction.

    + Respond to requests for information, review bids, shop drawings, and conduct site visits during construction.

    + Provide commissioning support, host progress meetings, and manage project closeout.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-certified institution.

    + Four or more years of electrical engineering design experience.

    + Construction support experience for Title 3 activities.

    + Experience in short circuit analysis and knowledgeable in NEC.

    + Proficiency in power system design, substation design, fire alarm design, lighting design, load flow studies, and grounding design.

    + Ability to independently produce sizing calculations and other analyses/reports.

    + PE License in Idaho or a PE in another state with the ability to quickly obtain an Idaho PE via NCEES Reciprocity.

    + Must be a citizen of the United States.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + DOE experience is desired.

    + NQA-1 experience is desired.

    + Arc Flash Analysis experience.

    + Experience leading groups of engineers and designers on major projects.

    + Ability to author proposals and Statements of Work.

    + Experience with leading technical discussions with clients.

    + Familiarity with Instrumentation & Controls interface.

    + Knowledge of a broad range of electrical systems, including communications design and equipment selection.

    Work Environment

    The work environment is primarily an office setting (95%). Telework is not an option, and all work is performed from a secure office environment. The location is approximately 55 miles from Idaho Falls. Employees may be exposed to areas with high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals, and industrial facilities.

    This is a Contract position based out of Idaho Falls, ID.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
