    Job Title: Construction Observer

    Job Description

    We are seeking an experienced individual for a Construction Observer position focused on roadway projects in Central Iowa. This role involves overseeing and managing the construction administration phase of projects for the IDOT. The ideal candidate will have experience in inspecting roadway projects, including concrete, asphalt, bridge, storm, and sanitary sewer work. Experience with Federal projects is a plus.

    Responsibilities

    + Oversee and manage construction administration activities.

    + Direct construction administration activities on projects.

    + Monitor projects for compliance with construction documents.

    + Collaborate with the project manager to establish and implement project procedures in the field.

    + Perform observation and materials testing of projects with minimal supervision.

    + Receive and distribute test reports.

    + Prepare punch lists and close-out procedures.

    + Conduct post-construction services and investigations as needed.

    Essential Skills

    + DOT inspection and construction observation experience.

    + Experience in transportation and roadway projects.

    + Material testing expertise.

    + 3+ years of experience in a similar role.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + ACI Field Concrete certification preferred.

    + Valid Driver's License.

    Work Environment

    The position is primarily based at transportation project sites or in the office located in Urbandale. You will be working with a small team of five project managers and administrative staff. The project is located in Des Moines, making it ideal for local candidates with no need for a commute.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Permanent position based out of Urbandale, IA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $54000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
