Join a global leader in healthcare diagnostics and research advancement. You will play an integral role in managing, quality inspecting, and processing biological samples that are essential to scientific research.The main function of a Specimen Processor is to handle and process laboratory samples efficiently. The role involves cataloging patient specimens such as blood, urine, or tissue for analysis, primarily focusing on blood samples. Lab professionals rely on these processes to carry out diagnosis and treatment.
Responsibilities
+ Ensure all samples are maintained in the appropriate environment during sample handling, processing, and storage to preserve their biological viability.
+ Receive inbound shipments and track samples prior to registration.
+ Introduce and prepare biological specimens for laboratory processing to ensure accuracy.
+ Open specimens and pour them into secondary containers for further analysis and testing.
+ Verify that patient demographic information matches the submitted test requisition form.
+ Perform data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes.
+ Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results.
+ Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
+ Pack and ship specimens to appropriate testing facilities when needed.
+ Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
+ Resolve and document any issues with problem specimens.
+ Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste appropriately.
+ Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
+ Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED completion
+ At least 1 year of experience in sample management or specimen processing, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting
+ Must be detail-oriented, efficient, and able to work independently
Work Environment
The position operates on a schedule of Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5:30 pm and Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm.

This is a Contract position based out of Mishawaka, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
