Join our team as a Laboratory Technician in the Office of Human Research Services, where you will play a crucial role in advancing cancer research. This position offers the opportunity to work in New Jersey's only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, providing a unique chance to expand your laboratory research career in a dynamic and evolving clinical trial setting.
Responsibilities
+ Utilize knowledge of different sample/specimen tube types for processing and shipping specimens.
+ Support inventory management and create, package, and quality assure prep kits before sending them to patients.
+ Input patient data accurately into electronic medical records and research databases.
+ Use centrifuge, aliquot, and pipetting techniques for sample preparation.
+ Perform repetitive laboratory tasks and collect tissues/body fluids from various hospital and clinic settings for transport to research laboratories.
+ Accurately document biological specimen collection information and maintain organized storage of specimens and records.
+ Ensure the de-identification of patient files and surgical reports in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
+ Provide routine maintenance to lab equipment and file paperwork for all samples.
+ Work with human samples, including urine, blood, fecal matter, and saliva, and perform complex testing for blood.
+ Follow regulatory processes for specimen collection and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in pipetting, centrifuge use, and aliquoting.
+ Associate’s Degree in a relevant science (Biology or Chemistry) with 2 years of industry-regulated lab experience in a GMP or GLP environment.
+ Bachelor's of Science with 1 year of industry-regulated lab experience.
+ Experience working with blood samples, including DNA extractions, centrifuging, and aliquoting.
+ Proficiency in using Excel or LIMS lab software for data entry and inventory control.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associates in Science with 2 years of laboratory experience.
+ Familiarity with PBMC, sample preparation, and shipping procedures.
+ Ability to multitask and adapt to new SOPs and guidelines.
+ Experience in clinical laboratory and specimen processing.
Work Environment
Work in a small laboratory with a collaborative team of 4 technicians and 2 coordinators. The environment is ever-changing, with new SOPs and guidelines frequently introduced, requiring adaptability. The position offers 4 days/10-hour shifts, either Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday, with potential evening hours. Exposure to a lab environment with moderate noise levels and universal precautions are mandatory due to potential exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs, and infectious diseases.

This is a Contract position based out of New Brunswick, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.48 - $23.67/hr.
