**Pay Range:** $38.02 - $61.88 per hour
Rush salaries are determined by many factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related experience and skills, as well as internal equity and industry specific market data. The pay range for each role reflects Rush’s anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.
Summary:
The Senior Physical Therapist meets all responsibilities outlined in the staff level job description. The senior staff therapist utilizes advanced education or certification to provide departmental leadership, especially as related to a specific area of expertise. The Senior Physical Therapist seeks to assist management with promoting excellence with delivery of patient care, education and research. The Senior Physical Therapist can assume a supervisory role upon request and directs quality improvement related to a defined area of expertise. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications:
• Bachelors in Physical Therapy from a school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy
• Physical Therapy state of Illinois license.
• Maintains current CPR certification.
• Four years clinical experience.
• Team oriented, can-do attitude, actively demonstrates respect for all persons.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Meets all state regulatory requirements.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
• Masters’ Degree in Physical Therapy from a school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy
• Clinical Doctorate in physical therapy from a CAPTE approved physical therapy program
• Leadership skills.
• Computer skills with Excel and Power Point skills.
Responsibilities:
• Uses advance clinical judgment and treatment skills in all aspects of clinical practice in defined area of clinical expertise.
• Demonstrates leadership in evidence based approach for best practice.
• Serves as a mentor/role model to staff, demonstrating a positive, non-judgmental attitude.
• Supports and demonstrates a team approach with other disciplines.
• Consistently meets or exceeds departmental productivity standards.
• Continues to upgrade knowledge base, expanding area of clinical expertise.
• Orients, teaches and mentors others in a defined area of clinical expertise.
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in content related to a defined area of expertise.
• Demonstrates being an integral part of planning, leading and/or providing educational inservices for others.
• Promotes and fosters growth of staff by actively participating in research, community education opportunities, and professional organization projects supporting evidenced based practice, program development and or service to the medical center and the community.
• Regularly functions as a clinical instructor to students from various affiliating schools.
• Participates in state and or national professional association through scholarly, leadership or service contributions.
• Conducts peer review in area of clinical expertise.
• Assists management in revision of clinical competencies for staff.
• Assists management in evaluation of departmental scope of service, standards, and goals.
• Makes suggestions to management regarding cost-effective use of personnel, supplies and equipment.
• Offers suggestions of new programs within area of clinical expertise to management.
• Contributes to staff performance evaluations as requested by supervisor.
• Sets example by faithfully supporting the mission, vision, values, standards and policies of the department and Rush University Medical Center.
• Takes a leadership role in embracing change as a permanent aspect of health care.
• Appreciates and is aware of effects of his/her discussions, decisions and actions (especially administrative/managerial type) on others in the clinical area and/or the physical therapy department
• Offers positive and constructive feedback to PT staff and supportive staff.
• Demonstrates ability to maintain emotional control in difficult situations.
• Recognizes own biases and discourages judgmental thinking or comments.
• Is willing and able to assess own strengths and limitations.
