Position Description
The Pipeline Integrity In-Line Inspection (ILI) Manager provides technical and strategic leadership for the company’s ILI and non-destructive evaluation (NDE) programs within the Pipeline Integrity Group. This position is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, operational safety, and data accuracy through effective program execution, vendor oversight, and process improvement. The ILI Manager leads a team of professionals focused on advancing the company’s integrity management objectives and maintaining safe, reliable pipeline operations.
Position Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Lead and develop a team of professionals responsible for executing the company’s ILI and NDE programs.
+ Establish short- and long-term goals to improve process effectiveness, system performance, and regulatory compliance.
+ Develop and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor ILI and vendor performance.
+ Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality completion of deliverables and responses to internal and external stakeholders.
+ Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality, consistency, and efficiency across integrity activities.
+ Manage the annual ILI budget, including forecasting, reporting, and variance analysis.
+ Develop technically sound and cost-effective engineering solutions that balance safety, performance, and business needs.
+ Prepare and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and work instructions that support regulatory and company standards.
+ Communicate effectively across technical and leadership levels, fostering collaboration and shared understanding.
+ Define clear roles, responsibilities, and performance goals for team members, providing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.
+ Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company safety programs and regulatory requirements.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned to support department and company objectives.
Position Requirements
Education
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant technical experience may be considered.
Experience / Specific Knowledge
+ Required:
+ Minimum 5–7 years of relevant engineering or technical experience, preferably in pipeline integrity, ILI, or related fields.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply practical, effective solutions.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
+ Valid driver’s license and driving record satisfactory to company and insurance requirements.
+ Preferred:
+ Ability to execute all of the requirements of the position listed above.
+ 3–5 years of management or supervisory experience in a technical or engineering role.
+ Knowledge of PHMSA 49 CFR Part 192 Subpart O and Part 195.452 integrity management regulations.
+ Familiarity with gas and liquid pipeline operations, standards, and procedures.
+ Experience with integrity assessment methods including in-line inspection (ILI), pressure testing, direct assessment, and non-destructive testing (NDT).
+ Understanding of pipeline integrity threats, degradation mechanisms, and risk management principles.
+ Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
+ Experience with integrity management software and data analytics tools.
+ Experience leveraging Sequel and understanding of databases.
+ Demonstrated leadership and ability to motivate and develop a multidisciplinary technical team.
+ Strong analytical and diagnostic abilities with sound engineering judgment.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
+ Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
+ Demonstrates initiative, accountability, adaptability, and results-driven performance.
+ Builds effective relationships and promotes open, constructive collaboration across departments and with external vendors.
+ Primarily office-based with occasional travel to field or corporate locations as needed.
+ Must be willing to carry and respond to a company-issued cell phone as required.
+ Extended periods of computer-based work may be necessary.
+ Consistent attendance and dependable performance are essential.

Supervisory Responsibilities
+ Directly supervises engineers, analysts, and technicians within the Pipeline Integrity Group. Responsible for setting priorities, evaluating performance, providing feedback, and supporting professional growth and engagement.
Other Responsibilities
+ Promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the Integrity Management Program.
+ Support company and industry safety and technical initiatives.
+ Contribute to the company’s mission of safe, reliable, and compliant pipeline operations.
+ Perform other duties as assigned to support department and organizational objectives.
