    Job Title: Accounting Manager – Pharmaceuticals

     

    Overview: The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting function within a dynamic pharmaceutical organization, with an emphasis on complex technical accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate financial statements and navigating evolving regulatory demands, helping the business meet critical objectives in a highly regulated environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Lead daily accounting operations, including GL maintenance, reconciliations, AP/AR, and month-end close processes.

    + Manage preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and relevant industry regulatory standards.

    + Research, analyze, and implement new technical accounting standards and pronouncements, particularly those affecting pharmaceutical sector activities (revenue recognition, R& D expenditures, collaborations, etc.).

    + Oversee internal controls and compliance with SOX, FDA, and other regulatory frameworks.

    + Provide accounting support for complex transactions, including mergers/acquisitions, licensing agreements, and clinical trial arrangements.

    + Collaborate with FP& A, tax, and supply chain functions to ensure holistic financial accuracy and reporting.

    + Lead and mentor a team of accountants, fostering ongoing professional development and technical expertise.

    + Serve as liaison to internal audit, external auditors, and senior management for all relevant technical accounting matters.

    + Assist in adoption and deployment of accounting technology and automation to increase efficiency and compliance.

    + Stay current on industry trends, accounting guidance, and regulatory changes affecting the pharmaceutical industry.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or progress toward certification highly preferred.

    + 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in pharma, life sciences, or related regulated industries.

    + Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting (ASC 606, ASC 730, lease accounting, etc.) and financial reporting.

    + Experience with ERP/accounting systems; proficiency in automation and analytics tools is beneficial.

    + Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

    + Proven ability to navigate complex regulatory requirements and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
