Job Title: Building Engineer
Job Description
The Building Engineer is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, life safety, and tenant requests. This role also encompasses other tasks assigned by the Chief or Assistant Chief Engineer.
Responsibilities
+ Ensure that all building systems are operated safely, efficiently, and as originally intended, including HVAC, water treatment plants, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems.
+ Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on building systems and equipment.
+ Assist the Chief/Assistant Chief Engineer with data entry of building equipment and tasks, and the scheduling of the Preventative Maintenance program.
+ Complete all service requests in a timely manner and initiate service requests as needed.
+ Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local codes and regulations.
+ Collaborate with vendors and contractors within the building.
+ Troubleshoot and repair building systems.
+ Monitor all building systems and respond to building emergencies.
+ Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes and make recommendations to superiors.
+ Respond to 24-hour emergency calls and carry a mobile phone for on-call duty.
+ Work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
+ Maintain and control inventory for cost-effective operations.
+ Prepare reports and documentation as required.
+ Strictly adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in HVAC, facility maintenance, and troubleshooting.
+ Experience with facility maintenance, repair, and commercial building engineering.
+ Experience with power plant systems, mechanical and preventive maintenance.
+ Knowledge of building maintenance, boiler systems, and maintenance repair.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School diploma required.
+ Experience with BMS/EMS Systems, including preparation and understanding of trend logs.
+ 5 years of experience in commercial real estate maintenance.
+ Prior experience and working knowledge of Central Plant Equipment, including chillers, boilers, thermal storage, pumps, heat exchangers, utility services, electrical power distribution, and plumbing/facility maintenance.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
