Job Title: Shift Supervisor
Job Description
The Mill Shift Supervisor is a key leadership role within the mill, responsible for overseeing and assisting in the daily production of feed, receipt of ingredients, and managing mill personnel on scheduled shifts. This position requires effective collaboration with quality, procurement, nutrition, and transportation teams to ensure high-quality feed production. The supervisor is also knowledgeable about the quality assurance program relevant to mill processes.
Responsibilities
+ Supervise and evaluate Mill technicians on the assigned shift, including performance reviews.
+ Assist in the training and enforcement of environmental, quality, and food safety policies and procedures.
+ Participate in recruiting efforts for Mill technicians and laborers.
+ Effectively operate all areas of the mill and oversee feed production on the assigned shift.
+ Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the facility, assigning and conducting housekeeping activities.
+ Enforce safety policies to minimize injuries and ensure adherence to quality assurance practices.
+ Monitor and maintain accurate ingredient/grain and bagged inventories.
+ Communicate effectively with Transportation, Logistics, Nutrify, and external mills.
+ Collaborate with Logistics and drivers to ensure efficient and quality product delivery.
+ Investigate, report, and communicate feed-related issues on the shift.
+ Maintain usage reports and operational records.
+ Navigate and utilize the Wenger System and Laserfiche as required.
+ Serve in an on-call capacity and fill in on other shifts as needed.
+ Complete required training promptly and assume duties in the absence of the Mill Supervisor.
Essential Skills
+ Understanding and adherence to Food Safety Standards – FSMA and SQF, and State regulations.
+ Proficient math skills.
+ Intermediate computer skills, including MS Word and Excel.
+ Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
+ Ability to work safely and efficiently.
+ Positive attitude and adaptability to change.
+ Demonstrated safe behavior and adherence to policies and procedures.
+ General maintenance skills.
+ Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
+ Solid oral and written communication skills.
+ Ability to operate various types of feed mill and related machinery.
+ High school degree or equivalent.
+ Minimum of 1 year experience in a feed mill or comparable manufacturing environment (preferred).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
+ Knowledge of feed manufacturing techniques, equipment operation, and maintenance (preferred).
+ Possess a knowledge level of animal nutrition (preferred).
+ Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. repeatedly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
+ Ability to climb ladders and work in high places.
+ Ability to work in confined spaces.
+ Ability to work in dusty conditions.

Work Environment
The work environment is a dusty setting with running machines, often smelling like animal feed. The supervisor will work alongside 5-10 employees, primarily on the 2nd shift from 2 PM to 10 PM or the 3rd shift from Sunday to Thursday, 10 PM to 6 AM. The dress code requires closed-toed shoes and long pants.

This is a Contract position based out of Shippensburg, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
