    Heavy Equipment Rental Truck Mechanic

    Job Description

    Under the guidance of the Service Manager, a Heavy Equipment Rental Truck Mechanic will conduct service and repair procedures on truck-mounted vacuum equipment both in the shop and out in the field. This position requires occasional travel for field service and repair calls, as well as attendance at necessary training sessions. The work related to the chassis includes performing routine preventive maintenance inspections and fulfilling requirements for fuels, fluids, and lubrication.

    Responsibilities

    + Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

    + Effectively read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.

    + Perform all scheduled preventive maintenance inspections of chassis, vacuum body, hydraulic, electrical, air, and water systems.

    + Conduct all repairs within DOT or OEM standards to ensure rental equipment is in "Ready to Rent" status.

    + Perform and document inspections of fleet equipment.

    + Maintain and organize shop and storage areas, ensuring proper storage of flammable items.

    Essential Skills

    + Solid understanding of the function, operation, and maintenance of truck-mounted vacuum equipment.

    + Proficiency in mechanical and hydraulic systems and electrical troubleshooting.

    + Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data, drawings, and schematics.

    + Ability to administer DOT inspections.

    + Experience with troubleshooting, heavy equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, preventive maintenance, mechanical repair, diesel engines, and welding.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + Minimum of three years of verifiable experience as a mechanic.

    + Preference for candidates with experience as heavy equipment, hydraulic, trailer, or construction mechanics.

    + Experience with truck-mounted vacuum equipment is preferred.

    Work Environment

     

    This role is based in a service repair shop with a day shift schedule, 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. While the position includes some call-outs, there is no weekend work.

    The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $66560.00/yr.
