    Job Description:

    35% - Program Management

    + Coordination of student rotations, including optimization and matching of skills and needs.

    + Management of rotation change requests

    + Draft and finalize experiential workload numbers for faculty

    + Execution of affiliation agreements, including renewal/revision of affiliation agreements

    + Determination of site-specific student onboarding requirements

    + Creation of new or revision of existing syllabi

    + Development and revision of assessment tools as well as rotation policy and procedures

    + Supervision, leadership, and oversight for direct reports including readiness with APPE, IPPE, Preceptor programs. Complete employee evaluations

    + Participate in interview, orientation, and onboarding of new employees

    + Submit rotation grades

    + Monitor, track and ensure alignment with budgetary allowances to include but not limited to preceptor or practice site payments, travel reimbursement, and office supplies or other office expenses.

    + Participate in the School of Pharmacy Assessment Committee

    + Maintain active involvement with American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Experiential Education Special Interest Group

    15% - Preceptor/Site Management

    + Monitor and validate Field Encounters completion for APPE’s and IPPE’s

    + Monitor Evaluation completion for APPE’s and IPPE’s

    + Develop marketing strategies for recruitment of preceptors

    + Develop education (continuing education, newsletters, etc.) and appreciation programs to support retention of preceptors

    + Review preceptor evaluation reports

    + Manage and document preceptor/site issues

    15% - Student Engagement

    + Creation of IPPE / APPE schedules

    + Orientation / experiential program presentations to students

    + Individual (one-on-one) meetings with students or career planning sessions, as requested.

    + Manage and document student issues

    + Advising of students as assigned by the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs

    10% - Assessment / Quality Improvement & Assurance

    + Development of Field Encounter requirements for IPPE and APPE

    + Development and revision of policy and procedures for required documentation and non-credit requirements

    + Manage student progression in collaboration with Associate Dean

    + Development and ongoing refinement of process to identify and track issues

    + Evaluation of experiential program through student, preceptor, and accreditation standards.

    + Develop, execute, compile, and distribute results of data collected to assess and improve the experiential education program

    + Generate report(s) for accreditation purposes

    + Produce scholarly presentations and publications related to experiential education and/or scholarship of teaching and learning

    20% - Faculty Roles/Responsibilities (Teaching and Service)

    + Responsible for coordinating, instructing, and overseeing the completion of PHPR didactic courses within the Pharmacy School curriculum for the PharmD program, as directed by the Chair of Pharmacy Practice.

    + Assist in grading OSLE/OSCE content as needed.

    + Teach up to one four-credit hour course per semester.

    Required Qualifications:

    As demonstrated by application materials, work history, or interview:

    1. A terminal degree in Pharmacy (Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE accredited school. For pre-2000 graduates, a BS degree is considered terminal.) Or a Doctor of Philosophy in a health or healthcare related field.

    2. Track record of effectiveness in clinical pharmacy practice, or a related field, and/or teaching

    3. Experience in Experiential Education, creating work schedules, or managing individuals at multiple locations.

    4. Two years of management or leadership experience providing supervising and direction to others.

    5. Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, and interpersonal skills throughout the interview process that are indicative of an ability to develop a collegial environment of collaboration

    6. Experience with databases as demonstrated by application materials and interview.

    For those applying at the Associate Teaching Professor level, the above requirements apply as well as the following:

    1. A strong documented record of teaching, leadership, scholarship, and service accomplishments

    Position Overview:

    The primary role of the Director for Experiential Education is to prepare students for their future endeavors by giving them practical, hands-on experiences that deepen their understanding and build essential skills by connecting classroom learning to real-world applications. These programs foster professional readiness and increase student engagement.

     

    This role collaborates with faculty, administrators, and external partners to curate programs that include internships, service learning, field trips, and other experiential learning opportunities. These initiatives are carefully aligned with the academic curriculum and institutional goals to ensure a cohesive and enriching educational experience. This role also plays a pivotal role in assessing and continuously improving the quality and impact of experiential learning programs.

     

    This position will be responsible for the Experiential Education program with a specific focus on Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) while supervising others with focuses in Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) and Preceptor Site Coordination visits. This position will also hold faculty rank within the Pharmacy Practice department along with teaching responsibilities (0.2 FTE). This position will be recruited at the level of Assistant, or Associate rank based on selected candidate’s qualifications and experience and will be a 12-month appointment.
