Description
The Utilities Department is seeking a skilled and motivated Tradesworker - Water Infrastructure to join our team. This is advanced-level technical and trades work involving the maintenance, repair, and installation of water distribution systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in utility work and a strong understanding of water infrastructure systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Perform complex repairs, maintenance, and installations of water distribution infrastructure.
+ Install, replace, and repair water lines (1"–36"), water valves, fire hydrants, and water meters.
+ Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment, including:
+ Track hoes
+ Backhoes
+ Loaders
+ Vac-Con trucks
+ Dump trucks
+ Utilize hand and power tools specific to the trade.
+ Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in the water distribution system.
+ Interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, and technical sketches.
+ Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and the public.
Education, Experience, Licensing
Education & Experience:
+ High school diploma or GED equivalent.
+ Minimum six (6) months of relevant work experience in utilities or a related field, such as:
+ Water or sewer systems
+ Natural gas
+ Irrigation
+ Plumbing
+ Electrical
+ Telecommunications installation
Licenses & Certifications:
+ Valid Class E Driver's License with a clean driving record.
+ Must possess a Florida Class A Commercial Learner’s Permit with Tanker Endorsement prior to receiving a job offer.
+ Must obtain a Florida Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement within 90 days of hire.
+ The Utilities Department will provide training, equipment, and cover all associated costs to help you obtain your CDL.
+ Must complete and pass the DEP Level 3 Water Distribution Operator training course and exam within two years of hire.
Additional Requirements:
+ This is a safety-sensitive position and subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing as per DOT regulation 49 CFR Parts 40 and/or 382.
+ Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under minimal supervision.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
