Lead Biomedical Equipment Technician

A Brief Overview
The Lead Biomedical Equipment Technician maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan, as guided by the Director of Clinical Engineering. Performs a variety of tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex medical equipment. Provides technical guidance to other Biomedical Equipment Technicians within the department. Coordinates special projects and performs specialized technical tasks.
What you will do
+ Assist with the Fiscal - Clinical Engineering annual budget.
+ Expand personal professional development by tracking hours spent on reading career related material, attending training classes, in-services, conferences or CE related webinars.
+ Performs inventory and schedules inspections in MediMizer of all lead barriers. Attaches inventory tag using specialty tool to all lead barriers.
+ Enters operating manuals or service manuals into the Clinical Engineering common folder on the “s” drive.
+ Manages medical equipment assets through the inventory addition, deletion and verification process.
+ Properly document medical equipment service records in the computerized medical equipment management system (CMMS) (MediMizer).
+ Performs general repairs, calibrations, and preventive maintenance on medical devices using specialized test equipment.
+ Completes assigned Preventive Maintenance (PM) within the scheduled month.
+ Participates in the medical equipment emergency On-Call program.
+ Effectively handles customer service issues. Responding to customers’ requests in a timely manner.
Education Qualifications
+ Associate's Degree in biomedical Equipment Technology or Electronics Technology from a two-year college, technical school, or equivalent experience Required
Experience Qualifications
+ Minimum of 7 years of experience servicing medical equipment.
+ Two (2) years supervisory experience in a hospital biomedical engineering department or a full-service biomedical service company Required
+ Imaging or Anesthesia service training/hands on experience Preferred
+ Project management experience Preferred
Skills and Abilities
+ Advance knowledge of biomedical/electronic test equipment required
+ Knows principles and function of electricity/electronics required
+ Knows how to use MS Office and other computer applications required
+ Knows various types of medical equipment and medical terminology required
+ Knowledge of computers and networks preferred
Licenses and Certifications
+ Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician - Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation Preferred
+ Holds technical service certification from at least one medical device manufacturer Required
