The Expeditor is responsible for ensuring that materials, components, and equipment required for modular construction projects are delivered on time, within specification, and in accordance with project schedules. This role serves as the key liaison between suppliers, procurement, logistics, engineering, and project management teams to identify and resolve supply delays that could impact production or construction timelines.
Material & Order Tracking
+ Monitor and track all purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and fabricated components.
+ Maintain up-to-date records of order status, lead times, and delivery schedules in the company’s ERP or project management system.
+ Follow up with vendors and suppliers daily to confirm production progress, shipping dates, and documentation accuracy.
Coordination & Communication
+ Serve as the primary point of contact between internal project teams and suppliers regarding delivery schedules and potential delays.
+ Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and warehouse personnel to ensure smooth material flow to modular production facilities and job sites.
+ Escalate critical delivery issues to the Supply Chain Manager and project leadership, proposing recovery plans or alternate sourcing options when needed.
Quality & Compliance
+ Verify that materials meet specified requirements before shipment and upon receipt, coordinating with quality control or engineering as necessary.
+ Ensure suppliers adhere to packaging, labeling, and shipping standards required for modular construction components.
+ Support compliance with company procurement policies and supplier performance metrics.
Logistics & Documentation
+ Coordinate transportation arrangements, shipment tracking, and delivery verification.
+ Review and maintain accurate documentation, including packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of compliance.
+ Identify opportunities to streamline expediting and logistics workflows for greater efficiency and cost control.
Requirements
• Strong communication and negotiation skills for supplier interaction and issue resolution.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Procore, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Analytical problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset in handling schedule challenges.
• Knowledge of modular construction materials, manufacturing processes, and shipping requirements is a strong plus.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in expediting, logistics coordination, or supply chain roles — ideally within construction, manufacturing, or modular/off-site production environments.
• Familiarity with reading and understanding technical drawings, blueprints, or material specifications.
