As Senior Manager, Technology Operations – API Business Lead, you’ll play a key role in developing and driving the product strategy and operations for Walmart’s Marketplace API and developer platform.
You will collaborate closely with API Product, Developer Experience, and Solution Provider onboarding teams to design, operationalize, and scale Walmart’s next-generation developer platform.
Reporting to the Director, MP Assortment / Sales Enablement, this role supports both the technical integration of new Solution Providers and strategic sellers,
and the long-term vision for Walmart’s Marketplace developer and API platform.
What You’ll Do
• Define and drive the developer platform strategy to empower third-party developers, Channel Partners (CPs), and strategic sellers to integrate seamlessly with Walmart’s Marketplace ecosystem.
• Own and lead onboarding for new CPs and strategic sellers, ensuring scalable processes and streamlined technical enablement.
• Execute an API ecosystem and partner onboarding strategy that aligns with business goals and enhances customer and partner experiences.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to define API standards, data contracts, and developer experience improvements.
• Develop data models and insights that inform API adoption, partner performance, and ecosystem growth opportunities.
• Provide technical and operational leadership in designing onboarding workflows and tools that simplify integration for external developers.
• Influence product roadmap prioritization based on marketplace trends, partner feedback, and data-driven insights.
• Coach and mentor team members, building deep expertise in developer relations, API integration, and partner success.
Required Skill Sets
Strategic & Leadership Skills
• Proven experience defining and scaling a developer or partner platform within a large enterprise or marketplace.
• Strong ability to set product and technical direction for API ecosystems, including developer portal strategy, SDKs, and onboarding frameworks.
• Experience owning partner success metrics and improving time-to-launch for new sellers and CPs.
• Demonstrated success in building cross-functional alignment across Product, Engineering, Business, and Partner Management teams.
Technical & Platform Skills
• Deep understanding of API architecture, RESTful design principles, authentication frameworks (OAuth, JWT), and event-driven systems.
• Experience with developer tooling, sandbox environments, and API lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with eCommerce integration patterns, data synchronization, and marketplace connectivity.
• Strong data fluency — ability to use analytics to measure onboarding efficiency, partner adoption, and performance KPIs.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and microservice ecosystems.
Operational & Execution Skills
• Proven ability to design and execute large-scale onboarding programs for technical partners or sellers.
• Experience implementing automation and self-service models for API integrations.
• Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills, including executive-level presentations and technical documentation.
• Exceptional organizational and prioritization abilities in fast-paced, evolving environments.
Preferred Experience
• Prior experience in developer relations, partner operations, or API product management within eCommerce or SaaS environments.
• Track record of driving API adoption and ecosystem growth through innovation and collaboration.
