    About the Role:

The CBRE Energy and Renewables team is seeking a Managing Director to build and lead a new capital markets service line within our platform. This role will leverage CBRE's established expertise in energy advisory, tax equity, PPAs, community solar, distributed generation, and innovative de-risking strategies to create entirely new business capabilities that unlock additional value for our clients. By securing bespoke capital solutions and developing creative financing structures, this position will enable the team to offer innovative services and solutions that were previously beyond our reach. You will be responsible for defining the vision, developing the service offerings, and driving the growth of this practice from the ground up. We are looking for an entrepreneurial capital markets expert who can deliver sophisticated financial services and innovate within a dynamic, start-up culture.

    What You’ll Do:

+ Build Capital Markets Practice: Develop and launch a new capital markets service line for the Energy & Renewables team, defining service offerings, go-to-market strategies, and operational frameworks; establish CBRE as a leading advisor in renewable energy project finance.

+ Debt Financing Advisory: Lead client engagements pertaining to debt raises for renewable energy projects and developers, from initial education sessions through final transaction execution; advise on construction loans, term debt, project refinancing, and optimal capital structures.

+ Bespoke Capital Solutions: Identify and secure creative capital solutions to enable innovative energy and renewables offerings for corporate clients, including structured finance arrangements, mezzanine debt, and alternative funding mechanisms that expand what our team can deliver.

+ Commercial Negotiations and Structuring: Manage negotiations between clients, lenders, and investors; develop innovative structures and terms to create value and minimize risk for project developers and energy buyers.

+ Lender and Investor Relations: Build and manage relationships with banks, debt funds, institutional investors, and other capital providers; establish a robust network of financing partners to support client needs and transaction flow.

+ Business Development: Conduct client prospecting, outreach, and in-person meetings to build the capital markets pipeline; collaborate with the Business Development team and leverage existing client relationships to secure new engagements.

+ New Product Development: Design and implement capital markets products that complement existing team offerings, including creative financing solutions for battery storage, distributed generation, utility-scale renewables, and emerging energy technologies.

+ Cross-Practice Integration: Contribute to existing team engagements pertaining to tax equity, VPPAs, PPAs, community solar, and other renewable energy transactions, integrating capital markets expertise to enhance client value.

+ Strategic Partnerships: Partner with external consultants, legal advisors, and financial institutions to deliver best-in-class advisory services and expand service capabilities.

+ Team Building and Mentorship: Manage and mentor junior team members as the practice grows, fostering their professional growth and maximizing their contributions.

+ Industry Representation: Represent CBRE Energy & Renewables at industry conferences and networking events focused on renewable energy finance, positioning the new practice as a thought leader.

    What You’ll Need:

+ Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience; MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred.

+ 8+ years of experience in capital markets, project finance, or investment banking with 4+ years specifically focused on renewable energy or infrastructure financing.

+ Proven track record in structuring and executing debt financing transactions for energy projects.

+ Strong understanding of renewable energy markets, project economics, and sustainability initiatives.

+ Established network of relationships with lenders, investors, and capital providers in the energy sector.

+ High proficiency in financial modeling and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

+ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
