    Manages the activities of the Aquatic Resources Program, ensuring that the Hospital provides exemplary support and services for institutional investigators that wish to utilize fish as a research model. Manages a dedicated technical staff and all research personnel in their use of fish and the aquatic facilities. Provides support for investigators in the development of Animal Research Protocols involving the use of fish.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Advises, educates and meets with investigators planning to use fish for research. Reviews animal protocols before submission to the institutional animal care and use committee (IACUC).

    + Provides direct supervision, guidance and coaching to Aquatic Resources Program technical staff in order to encourage optimal output and job performance, and provide opportunities for professional growth and career development. Completes administrative responsibilities regarding staffing.

    + Develops and maintains a high level of customer service providing timely, accurate and expert support to researchers in all aspects of research activity utilizing fish.

    + Develops, monitors and maintains operating and capital budgets. Monitors expenses and researches/resolves variances. Develops and recommends fish usage fee schedules for recovery of operating costs. Coordinates procurement of approved capital equipment and major supply purchases. Prepares related financial reports as required or requested. Manages investigator billing.

    + Implements/maintains institutional training program for all fish users, and ensures that personnel and facilities consistently meet or exceed standards set forth by the Hospital, governmental agencies, and outside accrediting bodies.

    + Supports all business functions of Aquatic Resources Program. Manages and maintains support for environment and equipment. Requests and coordinates delivery of needed services from other hospital departments.

    + Plans strategies to meet short- and long-term fish care and research needs. Manages the purchase of expendables. Designs and implements systems and programs to provide care and maintenance of fish in conformance with hospital and regulatory requirements. Develops and oversees engineering upgrades.

    + Informs and advises principal investigators and others of hospital policies and procedures and regulatory requirements for submitting animal protocols that involve fish. Assists investigators in preparing protocol applications. Reviews and evaluates protocols for completeness and compliance. Conducts orientation for investigators and staff.

    + Oversees maintenance and operation of highly specialized equipment designed to support aquatic life, including water production, re-circulating aquaculture systems, and sophisticated environmental monitoring equipment.

    + Provides information and documentation for regulatory/monitoring agencies and hospital committees as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:

    Master’s Degree is required. Biological sciences with a specific focus on aquatic biology/aquaculture is required.

    Experience:

    At least 5 years of related experience is required.Office/Site Location:BostonRegular, Temporary, Per Diem:Regular Remote Eligibility :Part Remote/Hybrid Pay Range:$83241.60-$133192.80 Annual
