The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide comprehensive clinical care for both Women’s Program and General Cardiology populations. In the UVA Women’s Heart Program the APP will include Women’s Prevention, SCAD, and Microvascular/ANOCA clinics, as well as general cardiology services such as HTN, HLD, CAD. The APP will deliver evidence-based cardiovascular care tailored to the patient’s needs, serve as a patient advocate, and function as a key member of a multidisciplinary team committed to excellence in patient outcomes, education, and compassionate care.
Shifts:
Monday–Friday, primarily daytime hours; no weekends, holidays or call expected.
Work Arrangement:
• Full-time, outpatient clinical role based primarily in UVA’s Ambulatory Cardiology and Women’s Heart clinics.
• Day shifts, Monday through Friday.
• Option for four 10-hour days.
Preferred Experience:
o Prior clinical experience in cardiology, internal medicine, or cardiovascular subspecialties.
o Experience with outpatient management of cardiovascular conditions.

+ Partner with pharmacists to optimize medication therapy and patient adherence.
+ Work with social workers to address behavioral health and social needs.
+ Collaborate with registered nurses and navigators for care coordination and follow-up.
+ Collaborate with OB/GYN and Maternal-Fetal Medicine for cardio-obstetric care.
+ Engage with general and inflammatory cardiology colleagues for shared patient care.
+ Collaborate with vascular medicine, endocrinology, and lipidology for integrated cardiovascular prevention.
+ Coordinate care with imaging, heart failure, and electrophysiology subspecialists as appropriate.
+ Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences and care planning meetings.
Clinical
+ Independently evaluate, diagnose, and manage new and follow-up patients with INOCA, SCAD, and complex cardiovascular prevention needs.
+ Perform cardiovascular assessments; order and interpret diagnostic testing; develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
+ Manage cardiovascular risk factors and chronic conditions including hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity, diabetes, and menopause-related risk.
+ Manage general cardiovascular conditions such as hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and valvular disorders.
+ Provide patient and family education regarding disease processes, treatment options, procedural care, and long-term self-management.
+ Provide medication management and follow-up care aligned with Women’s Heart Program guidelines and quality metrics.
+ Integrate sex-specific cardiovascular risk factors and social determinants of health into care planning and shared decision-making.
+ Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, and follow-up care.
+ Document clinical encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EPIC).
Leadership
+ Model patient-centered, evidence-based care aligned with Women’s Heart Program goals.
+ Promote integration of sex-specific cardiovascular risk considerations across team practice.
+ Contribute to fostering a multidisciplinary, collaborative clinic culture.
+ Support quality and program development through adherence to established care pathways and performance metrics.
+ Act as a clinical resource and subject matter expert in women’s cardiovascular health.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree.
Experience: Department and unit specific.
Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
Background checks and pre-employment health screenings** will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a **drug screen.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
Position Compensation Range: $96,907.20 - $155,043.20 Annual
