    Job Title: Environmental TechnicianJob Description

     

    As an Environmental Technician, you will perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including air, groundwater, building materials, and noise. You will operate field monitoring equipment and assist with the operation and maintenance of remediation systems. Additionally, you may participate in asbestos surveys, abatement projects, and Phase I preliminary site assessments. You will also be responsible for transporting material samples or documents to the lab for further testing and analysis. Furthermore, you will tabulate and prepare data for written reports and clean and maintain field monitoring equipment, all while adhering to strict safety standards.

    Responsibilities

    + Conduct building inspections for asbestos-containing materials in accordance with EPA, State, and Local requirements.

    + Test surface coatings for lead paint in commercial and industrial settings.

    + Perform mold inspections and sampling for suspect microbial growth.

    + Conduct standardized and sometimes complex field tests and special inspections as required.

    + Monitor air quality and conduct visual inspections during asbestos abatement projects.

    + Calibrate field monitoring equipment as necessary.

    + Inspect and sample within industrial settings.

    + Perform indoor air quality assessments.

    + Maintain quality standards on all projects.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in environmental field, asbestos, abatement, inspection, and remediation.

    + Proficient in performing building inspections for asbestos-containing materials.

    + Ability to test surface coatings for lead paint.

    + Proficient in performing mold inspections and sampling.

    + Experience in air monitoring and conducting visual inspections during abatement projects.

    + Ability to calibrate field monitoring equipment.

    + Experience in industrial inspection and sampling.

    + Proficiency in indoor air quality assessments.

    + Maintaining quality standards on all projects.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Science is preferred.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

    + Strong written communication skills with the ability to type reports.

    + Willingness to travel overnight periodically.

    + Valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history.

    + Required inspector certifications in asbestos, lead, radon, and/or mold, or the ability to obtain these certifications.

    + Ability to obtain a Jessica Lunsford Act badge for work conducted in K-12 facilities.

    Work Environment

    The job takes place on client properties and involves sampling asbestos and other hazardous materials, paint sampling, and monitoring and abatement of those materials. The work schedule is from Sunday through Thursday, 3rd shift, overnight from 11 PM to 7 AM, with opportunities for overtime.     Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $52000.00/yr.
