Job Title: Electrical EngineerJob Description

As an Electrical Engineer II, you will be a key contributor to the electrical system design for advanced data center cooling equipment. Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor for the Data Center colocation sub-vertical, you will lead smaller projects or subsystems, coordinate cross-functional activities, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring quality and compliance in system integration.

Responsibilities

+ Develop, edit, and maintain complex electrical design systems and documentation.

+ Lead design efforts on subsystems, including component selection and layout.

+ Coordinate panel build and wiring activities for both prototype and production units.

+ Interface cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to drive design feasibility and efficiency.

+ Create and maintain structured configurable Super BOMs to ensure accurate part selection and system configuration.

+ Support controls and electrical troubleshooting during prototyping and testing.

+ Apply working knowledge of drives, power distribution, switchgear, sensors, and transducers to design activities.

+ Stay abreast of new developments in electrical design and apply that knowledge towards the technical enhancement of machinery and processes.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

+ 3+ years of experience in electrical design for industrial or mechanical systems.

+ Proficiency with electrical CAD tools, with a preference for AutoCAD Electrical.

+ Experience working with cross-functional teams in a product development environment.

+ Knowledge and application of applicable electrical codes; NEC, UL (UL1995, UL60335, UL508A), IEC and CE.

+ Proficiency in MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in electrical design and chiller design.

+ Strong electrical wiring skills.

Work Environment

The position is located at a specific outside chiller plant for a data center, currently staffed by around 50 people with plans for growth. This role offers a great opportunity for exposure to the rapidly expanding data center industry.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Lexington, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $89000.00 - $111000.00/yr.
