    Job Title: Distribution Design Engineer IJob Description

     

    As a Distribution Design Engineer I, you will be responsible for developing design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV. This role primarily focuses on programmatic work such as overloaded transformers, inspection and maintenance, joint use, and inspection reports. You will work under the supervision of a technical lead, ensuring compliance with safety, design, and quality standards.

    Responsibilities

    + Develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems.

    + Comply with safety requirements and design quality expectations.

    + Travel to sites for inspections and perform engineering design work.

    + Conduct engineering calculations including structural analysis and specifying conductor sags.

    + Develop permitting documents for various authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).

    + Provide engineering support during construction and conduct post-construction reviews.

    + Conduct root cause analysis of outages and propose mitigation solutions.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

    + 0-1 years of relevant experience.

    + Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and distribution design software.

    + Knowledge in power distribution, electrical engineering, and utility design.

    + Experience with tools such as Maximo and familiarity with design standards.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with distribution design tools like BOUD, SOCKET, or similar.

    + Proficiency in CAD tools, MicroStation, and/or GIS.

    + Experience with NESC standards.

    + Interest in developing work packages for various projects including OH, UG, URD, and Street Light projects.

    + Ability to work in both field and office settings.

    Work Environment

    This position requires on-site presence. Candidates should be comfortable working in both field and office settings, as field work may be required. The role involves travel to sites for inspections and returning to the office to perform engineering design work. Training in customer engineering and construction standards will be provided.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $29.81 - $29.81/hr.
