Job Title: Quality EngineerJob Description
As a Quality Engineer, you will interact with customers to ensure their requirements are understood and met, and to resolve any customer complaints. You will participate in customer presentations as needed and perform PPAP development, which includes Process Flow Diagrams, FMEAs, Control Plans, IMDS submissions, dimensional checking, and performance testing. You will also work closely with other departments to ensure product compliance with customer requirements and international standards like IATF.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing quality and production data.
+ Provide technical expertise on quality, statistical, and fastener subjects including quality standards, fastener standards, APQP, PPAP, structured problem solving (8D), and more.
+ Lead improvement or problem-solving teams and may supervise quality technicians on project basis.
+ Prepare work instructions and lead Fast-Response team meetings.
+ Use the company MRP system for research on lot traceability and tracking or quarantining parts when necessary.
+ Work with suppliers, vendors, and service providers.
+ Conduct internal QMS/EMS audits, internal product audits, and supplier audits. Report audit results and follow up on corrective actions.
+ Interact with outside auditors during third-party and customer audits.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of experience with ISO and IATF standards.
+ Experience with basic measurement tools such as calipers, mics, and gauges.
+ Understanding of statistical subjects including Normal distribution and SPC.
+ Experience with automotive PPAP’s including Flow Diagrams, FMEAs, and Control Plans.
+ Experience in structured problem solving methods like 8D, DMAIC, 5-WHY, fishbone diagrams, and root cause analysis.
+ Experience in customer and supplier interaction.
+ Experience in the metals industry.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ ASQ, 6-Sigma, or Lean certification.
+ Understanding of fasteners, fastener manufacturing, testing, and dimensional and performance standards.
+ Project and people supervision experience.
+ Bachelor's degree.
Work Environment
The Quality Engineer will frequently spend time on the manufacturing floor and interact with a quality team of 12 individuals. The role involves significant interaction with customers and suppliers, with very little travel involved. The work environment is dynamic and requires effective communication skills.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Akron, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $48.00/hr.
