Job Title: Software EngineerJob Description
The Software Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, modifying, developing, writing, testing, and implementing software programming for user applications. You will develop software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, and studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes. By investigating problem areas and following the software development lifecycle, you will play a key role in ensuring effective software solutions. This position operates under general supervision, requiring judgment within defined procedures and practices, along with a degree of creativity and latitude.
Responsibilities
+ Write software code and complete programming for graphical user interfaces, and potentially write firmware for embedded processes.
+ Perform design, analysis, and verification testing of functional components for new product design.
+ Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing, debugging, and certification of software.
+ Complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
+ Perform systems modeling, simulation, and analysis in designing compilers, assemblers, and utility programs.
+ Advise hardware designers on machine characteristics that may affect software systems.
+ Provide input for documentation of new or existing programs.
+ Integrate software with existing systems.
+ Interface with users to define system requirements and necessary modifications.
+ Support, maintain, and document software functionality.
+ Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
+ Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
+ Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
+ Brief others on deliverables, status, and progress.
+ Provide application support to other departments and personnel as needed.
+ Ensure daily availability, including evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines.
Essential Skills
+ 2+ years of experience with C++
+ Experience using SQL Server Database Programming
+ Experience using Visual Basic and Microsoft Visual Studio
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with Linux
+ Experience using SQL
Work Environment
The position is on-site, operating on a schedule of four 9-hour shifts and a half-day shift. This is a direct placement opportunity with a large company in the defense industry, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to significant projects.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Knoxville, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
