    As a vital member of Jacobs’ Virginia Transportation Team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on projects that focus on bridges and other transportation structure designs. Working alongside a team of technicians and engineers, you’ll be responsible for creating drawings and simulations using software tools and resources supporting our clients’ overall project goals.

     

    As a key member of our team, you’ll support and/or oversee bridge design projects and will perform complex structural planning, analysis, design, and delivery for all structural aspects of transportation (bridges) projects. We will look to you for technical excellence, leadership, and deep understanding of industry standards and emerging technologies on transportation projects. You’ll also serve as a representative of Jacobs at meetings, presentations, and public hearings/reviews relative to assigned projects. Other duties may include estimating project costs, contract negotiations, overseeing and ensuring that project quality, schedule, and budget requirements are met.

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

    • Substantial years of progressive experience on various types of bridges, to include analysis, design and plan development of new and rehabilitation projects

    • Previous experience with Virginia Department of Transportation projects and other local client relationships

    • Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer (P.E.)

    • Demonstrated proficiency with MicroStation, Microsoft Office Software, and a variety of structural engineering analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, MIDAS, LARSA 4D, CSI Bridge)

    • Must have a solid understanding of and practical experience applying the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications to transportation structures

    • Proven track record of leading large-scale bridge projects

    • Ability to coordinate with teams both internally and externally

    • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills

    Ideally you'll also have:

    • Master’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

    • SE License

    • Demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring junior level staff

    • Experience with Design-Build or Public-Private Partnership (P3) projects

    • Knowledge of digital delivery and asset management systems
