We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer for vehicle builds, not for software/hardware IT.

The Quality Assurance Engineer (QE) at Nomad GCS is an ASQ certified CQE and has a strong understanding of the body of knowledge needed to obtain one or more of the following ASQ certifications; CQE, CQI, CQA, and/or CSQP, along with previous work experience at a manufacturing facility which operates in a heavily government regulated industry. This background will aid in the completion of the essential functions listed below.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITY:
+ Assist the Quality Assurance Manager in supporting and mentoring Nomad’s Quality Assurance Inspectors.
+ Assist Quality Assurance Inspectors as needed with inspection of incoming, in-process, and final products using basic gauges and measurement instruments.
+ Conduct more complex and critical inspections using metrology equipment (optical or probe CMM, etc.) in accordance with blueprints, drawings, geometric dimensions and tolerancing (GD&T) and Model-Based Definitions.
+ Define inspection plans through understanding process distributions and by utilizing sampling methods in accordance with ANSI/ASQ Z1.4.
+ Collaborate with the organization’s Supply Chain department and Quality Assurance Manager to continuously evaluate and improve performance of supplier key system components.
+ Identify and resolve problems through use of root cause analysis and continuous improvement techniques.
+ Collaborate with the Engineering Teams and Innovative Solutions Group to develop engineered solutions based on root cause analysis and identification of opportunities to improve product manufacturability and serviceability.
+ Develop and monitor program specific quality control systems/plans.
+ Perform internal quality audits through sound techniques of examining, questioning, evaluating, and reporting to determine the quality system’s adequacy and deficiencies.
+ Use metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices.
+ Help ensure that manufacturing and inspection tools meet specific program calibration requirements
+ Identify processes that could improve through use of statistical process control (SPC).
+ Review engineering drawings for quality characteristics, comparison of tolerances to inspection and test capabilities, and alignment with company standards, as required.
+ Travel, on a limited basis, as needed by Management.
+ Take on additional duties as assigned.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:
+ Be knowledgeable about quality standards/guidelines and risk management concepts.
+ Be knowledgeable about metrology, inspection, and testing.
+ Understand technical drawings and specifications (ASME Y14 standards).
+ Utilize basic and advanced problem-solving tools and continuous improvement techniques.
+ Demonstrate understanding and application of Nomad Core Values.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
+ Regular use of hands and arms to manipulate, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls. Ability to stand and sit for extended periods as required by task assignment.
+ Frequent standing, walking, and sitting throughout the day. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
+ Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Assistance required for anything heavier than 50 pounds.
+ Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors, necessary for both office tasks and production work.
+ Must have the physical stamina to adapt to varying workload demands and stand or sit for prolonged periods depending on the specific tasks of the day.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
+ Work is split between a partially environmentally controlled indoor manufacturing area and a professional office setting. Temperatures in the manufacturing area can fluctuate between 60°F and 100°F, typically maintained around 70°F in the office.
+ Exposure to varying noise levels from moderate in the office to loud on the production floor; safety hearing devices provided as needed.
+ Possible exposure to household and commercial chemicals with adherence to safety protocols outlined in Safety Data Sheets (SDS) required. Safety glasses and closed-toed shoes are mandatory when on the production floor.
+ Regular interaction with team members, guests, and clients in a professional setting. Everyday workwear must be business casual/smart casual and appropriate for the office environment.
+ Use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators or protective coveralls may be necessary for specific tasks on the production floor.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
+ Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Manufacturing Management required.
+ Three years’ experience in Quality Assurance field.
+ ASQ Certification preferred (CSQP, CQI, CQE, and/or CQA).
+ Experience with ERP programs (ECNs, SCARs, etc.) preferred.
+ Must have strong computer skills and be proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Possess a sense of urgency to meet all defined deliverables.
+ Be able to work with and communicate with employees at all levels effectively and professionally.
+ Documented work experience in a manufacturing environment operating within a heavily regulated industry, preferably operating with a QMS certified/compliant to ISO9001, AS9100, or FAA Guidelines.
