    Lead Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

We are hiring for a Lead Speech-Language Pathologist for one of our highly valued partners in the San Diego and Imperial Counties. In this role you will be at the center of this mission—empowering children ages 0–3 with developmental delays to reach their fullest potential while guiding and mentoring fellow professionals.     Role Responsibilities:

    Clinical Duties

    + Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, and swallowing needs for children ages 0–3.

    + Develop individualized treatment plans and support families in achieving IFSP goals.

    + Deliver high-quality therapy through home visits and community-based sessions.

     

    Territory

     

    + Travel one day per week to Imperial County to extend the reach of services with a weekly travel stipend.

    + Represent Amergis as a leader in early intervention, building collaborative networks and resources.

    + Embody our core values while advancing the mission of improving lives through communication and connection.

     

    Quality & Compliance

     

    + Ensure accurate documentation of evaluations, treatment notes, and progress reports.

    + Review, track, and provide feedback on written reports from staff to maintain quality standards.

    + Stay informed of best practices, research, and emerging trends to foster program innovation.

     

    Leadership

     

    + Serve as the Lead SLP by training, mentoring, and supporting team members.

    + Observe and evaluate staff performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance.

    + Design and deliver in-service trainings to raise the standard of care across the program.

     

    Family Partnership

     

    + Build strong, trusting relationships with families through empathy and clear communication.

    + Provide education, resources, and coaching that empower caregivers to support their child’s development.

    + Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic, family-centered care.

    Qualifications

    Education & Credentials

     

    + Current license from the State of California Speech-Language Pathology Board.

    + Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an educational program accredited by The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).

    Professional Experience

    + Preferred one (1) year SLP experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

    + Preferred one (1) year pediatrics experience (birth to 5 years of age).

    + Experience providing constructive feedback, mentoring others, and supporting professional growth of colleagues.

    General Requirements

    + Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of hire.

    + Must receive criminal record clearance from DOJ.

    + Must have valid California Driver’s license, safe driving record, and have been licensed to drive at least 2 years.

    + Must maintain current and adequate auto insurance.

    + Must obtain CPR/FA certification if not already certified (training provided for new hires).

    + Demonstrates accountability and follow-through in meeting documentation, compliance, and training requirements.

    + Adaptability to respond to changing policies, staffing needs, and family crises.

     

    Language & Technical Skills

     

    + Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.

    + Strong active listening skills to understand family and staff concerns.

    + Ability to deliver feedback in a constructive and supportive manner.

    + Communicates Effectively – Collaborative professional with strong oral and written communication skills; active listener who delivers information clearly and constructively.
