DSP's for primarily 2nd and/or 3rd shift

must be available on weekends

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Provides services to persons who need help with day-to-day activities

+ Demonstrates competence in performing the necessary skills based on the patient’s plan of care

+ Provides health care tasks, personal hygiene services, and other related support services essential to the client’s health and safety

+ Assists with transfers and ambulation

+ Performs incidental household services that are an integral part of a personal care plan (if applicable)

+ Provides companionship by reading, listening and talking with client

+ Assists client in the development of independent skills through self-care activities such as toileting, clothing routines, and personal hygiene

+ Implements behavior management techniques in accordance with the directions given by the supervisor/healthcare practitioner; including reinforcing appropriate behaviors in accordance with plans and discouraging negative behavior

+ Reports changes in patient/client status

+ Adheres to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) privacy policies and procedures

+ Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

+ State licensure or certification if required by state and/or contract

+ One (1) year relevant patient/client care experience preferred

+ Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

+ Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable

+ Current CPR if applicable

+ TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

+ Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

+ Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

+ Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required

+ Computer proficiency required

+ Must be at least 18 years of age
