    Job Description:

    This position is directly responsible for approximately 5.4 million building square feet for building maintenance. This position provides technical oversight and supervision of craft personnel on staff. This position is responsible for the supervision of all employees involved in the finishing, plaster work, and painting of all finish surfaces. This includes the supervision of work performed by LSU painters and plasterers as well as contract labor used by LSU to perform these functions.

    Job Duties:

    Manages, administers, coordinates and supervises all painters & plasterers assigned to the Paint Shop. Assumes supervisory role over Carpenter, Maintenance Repair, Sheet Metal and Roofing personnel during supervisors absents. Examples of duties are; prepares times sheets, approves and coordinates applications for leave, dispatches work assignments to employees, evaluates employees work performance, trains employees on new applications, follows up on employee productivity, if necessary uses progressive discipline when employee performance is unacceptable.(35%)

     

    Manages, administers and coordinates package (construction) jobs. Reviews the information given to him by the designers/estimator and makes sure all necessary materials and equipment are available. Monitors the weekly construction schedule and when services are needed, makes sure the necessary personnel and resources are there. Audits workmanship for quality and notifies the project manager of any discrepancies. Once work is complete, closes out the paperwork and if needed, takes care of any punch list items.(30%)

     

    Manages, administers and coordinates material orders. Prepares Electronic Material Orders, places University Stores orders, works with University Stores to ensure appropriate levels of materials are stocked and makes arrangements to have material delivered directly to job site when feasible. Prepare specifications for material not stocked by University Stores to be submitted to Purchasing and places orders via LaCarte Card, a credit card procurement system.(15%)

     

    Manages, administers, coordinates and supervises Painter/Plaster Supplemental Manpower Contracts. Contacts vendor(s) to make arrangements for supplemental labor to be available when needed, dispatches work assignments to supplemental employees, evaluates their performance, audits invoices for accuracy, prepares shop material reports as needed and ensures cost stay within budget.(10%)

     

    Works with our Work Control office which provides the department with work request from the campus community. Ensures requests are dispatched timely and work is completed as per requestor's instructions. Enters data in the OFS FAMIS work order database. Closes work request once the work is completed. Other duties as assigned.(10%)

    Minimum Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:

    Four years of experience in the building construction trades; maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment; building construction; building maintenance; or construction, maintenance, or repair of roads or bridges; OR

     

    Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trades; maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment; building construction; building maintenance; or construction, maintenance, or repair of roads or bridges; OR

     

    Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, engineering, or any combination of these courses plus two years of experience in the building construction trades; maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment; building construction; building maintenance; or construction, maintenance, or repair of roads or bridges.

    Special or Physical Qualifications:

    + Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67."

    + This position is classified as a safety and security-sensitive position. These positions are subject to drug screens per PS-67/FASOP HR-04.

    + This position requires a valid driver's license, will require an MVR, and is subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.

    + In accordance with PS-18 this position may be required to report to or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure.

    + This position will require a physical evaluation based on the physical demands required.
