Description of Work Unit
The College of Business at Colorado State University is an AACSB -accredited business school focused on using business to create a better world.
The College provides programs and career support services to more than 2,500 undergraduate and 1,300 graduate students in top-ranked on-campus and online programs. College faculty impart students with the values, knowledge, and skills to navigate rapidly evolving markets and address global challenges with sustainable business models and practices. The College’s marketing and communications team is responsible for brand and revenue generation strategies and tactics across audiences, including prospective students, current students, staff/faculty, executives, alumni, academic influencers, the CSU campus community, donors and the business community.
Position Summary
This position develops compelling content to elevate the College of Business’s brand story across a wide range of mediums ranging from email and social media to web landing pages and CSU editorial platforms such as Source.
This position covers three primary areas of focus: 1) content creation and story-telling for alumni, donors, boards, corporate partners and business community communications, 2) promotions for external-facing events/experiences, and 3) promotional items development and management.
This role requires an understanding of audience differentiation, ability to adapt writing to specific purposes, as well as digital marketing skills in social media, email and web. This role must be able to adapt writing style and creative development to meet key business goals and align with audience and channel-specific needs across platforms. This position requires strong project management and organizational skills, attention to detail and a strong command of written storytelling techniques, as well as the ability to augment them with multimedia assets to elevate digital performance. This role works independently as well as alongside other members of the Marketing and Communications team to elevate the College’s brand story, and collaborates frequently with stakeholders throughout the college to develop persuasive content.
The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date and maintain work authorization; The College of Business will not provide visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future.

Required Job Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, or related field
+ 3+ years professional work experience in a marketing/communications type role or related position
+ Ability to write in a number of different styles/tones for print and multimedia digital formats such as email, website, and a wide range of social channels
+ 1+ years experience consistently creating digital content via mass marketing emails and social channels to support brand development and growth
+ Experience coordinating and managing projects
+ Experience measuring efficacy of featured content, promotions and branding campaigns

Preferred Job Qualifications
+ Knowledge of website communication accessibility standard WCAG 2.0 for multi-media formats (email, social, mobile, internal display, video, etc)
+ Ability to prioritize and work on multiple deadlines and communicate progress
+ Experience in a deadline-driven writing environment, such as daily or weekly journalism, magazine publishing, or related professional communications.
+ Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to develop and implement communications initiatives
+ Experience with Google Analytics, UTM parameters and digital performance metrics
+ Expertise with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite
+ Experience using project-management platforms such as ClickUp, Airtable WorkFront, Asana, Trello or similar tools

You are a brand-building storyteller experienced in using a wide range of communication channels from email to social media and web landing pages to persuasively convey a message and engage the target audience. You understand the nuances of speaking to specific audiences, and are adept at catering messaging and selecting visuals to appeal to audiences, while working effectively in the channel and maintaining a brand position. All channels, whether it’s social media or email, are seen as strategic opportunities to reach our community and engage them in our Business for a Better World vision. You use a variety of proven and developing tactics, and routinely turn to analytics to gauge the efficacy of those attempts. While you’re not necessarily a designer or a videographer, you are able to select and guide development of creative that stands out. Multi-media assets such as video and motion graphics from templates and other guides doesn’t scare you – you may not be a pro, but you are adept at using them to deliver a story with impact. When it comes time to try new technologies, you’re eager and willing to try new things, but understand that audience and user experience should always drive innovation.

+ Develop cross-channel content to provide a consistent, targeted, and impactful message to build the College’s culture and promote Business for a Better World.
+ Author persuasive communications for multi-media materials such as brochures, videos, flysheets and other assets aimed at shaping brand perception for broad external audiences.
+ Write and distribute strategic communications and multi-media content targeting current College of Business alumni, donors, boards, corporate partners and general business community.
+ Develop communications that range from emails to web pages to feature stories and persuasive content writing.
+ Leverage storytelling best practices to craft messaging that demonstrates impact of programs and events for placement in the College’s editorial and social channels.
+ Coordinate and support aligned external communications amongst key College centers
+ Coordinate with web content coordinator and other key stakeholders to develop an annual approach to update website material for key audiences on a timely basis.
+ Support development of unified alumni and donor experience journey map and annual marketing and communications plan.
+ Collaborate with multiple college and campus entities, as well as current alumni/donors to capture and inform journey and associated marketing needs.
+ Analyze and report on effectiveness of marketing and communications initiatives for Director and leadership.
+ Develop and maintain testimonials and story summaries for easy access and use by the marketing and communications team.
+ Support stakeholder needs associated with mass alumni, donors, corporate partners and general business community communications, including outreach through marketing automation tool.
+ Represent the voice of alumni in project planning for key strategic initiatives. Support Director with Dean speech writing and communications
+ Support the Director with development-related writing and communications tasks
+ Support the Director with technical writing and editing on an as-needed basis

+ Coordinate with College event specialist or other event managers as needed to develop appropriate marketing plans for external events.
+ Create and implement marketing and communications content for strategic external events such as graduation and homecoming. Promotions include but are not limited to event landing pages, social media, print materials, banners, invites and outcome stories. Ensure brand experience is cohesive throughout event touchpoints.
+ Work with college events specialist to establish standardized timeframes, and processes for signature external events.
+ Develop an annual calendar of external events requiring promotions as part of larger strategic and editorial planning.
