Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager Supplier Engineering is part of the global sourcing organization and reduces overall supply risk through understanding of supplier capabilities and disaster preparedness using appropriate tools. Abiomed is present in most markets of the world, representing more than $1 billion of revenue with projected strong growth and premier market positions. He is part of all local scale-up activities at Abiomed’s vendors while building and managing strong vendor relationships that support business objectives and new product introduction. In close collaboration with the other leaders in the sourcing organization he will manage key capacity-increase and Quality at the source projects and is accountable for conducting effective performance management and meaningful career development.
**Principle Duties and Responsibilities** :
• Directs and develops a part of the local supplier engineering organization of approx. 15 employees (people manager & individual contributors)
• Demonstrates superior teamwork in working with peers in manufacturing engineering, quality, planning & procurement, logistic, lifecycle engineering and product development to facilitate joint supplier projects/programs
• Technical lead for any supplier qualification & first article inspection
• Strong involvement in supplier evaluation and development program
• Strongly driving part obsolescence replacement & qualification
• Collaboration with global Supplier Quality Assurance organization ensuring external suppliers are qualified, purchased products and services meet specifications, regulations, and quality standards. Technical Lead for any supplier qualification and first article inspection (2nd sourcing, scale-up at vendors, yield improvement)
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process optimizations
• Drive the engagement, quality and output of the core suppliers
• Reduce overall supply risk through understanding of supplier capabilities & capacities and the implementation of risk mitigation (second sourcing, vendor scale-up, yield improvement/ quality at the source programs)
• Identification and realization of cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities
Job Qualifications:
+ Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, MS in Engineering highly preferred
+ Experienced professional with business experience in multiple roles in Supply Chain, Operations or Engineering field with at least 5+ years within a Supply Chain environment
+ Good knowledge of the electronics component manufacturing industry
+ Several years of experience and knowledge in external manufacturing processes
+ Skills including, but not limited to, Supplier Management, Medical Device Manufacturing, Global Medical Device Regulatory Compliance, Continuous Process Improvement
+ Strong decision-making, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and management skills with the demonstrated ability to deliver results in a timely manner by prioritizing personal workloads, as well as providing guidance and oversight to others
+ Very good level of understanding of manufacturing processes and experience in engaging internal stakeholders
+ Strong talent development skills
+ Good verbal and written communication skill with ability to confidently present complex information externally and internally
+ Ability to continuously improve the organization
+ Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment, while ensuring the organization is able to effectively and efficiently move through transitions
+ Continuous improvement/lean/six sigma experience, black belt preferred
+ Willingness to travel, particularly to visit suppliers and other Abiomed-facilities. This position may require up to 30% International travel based on business needs

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
122,000- 212,750
